In 1908–09 ranchers Waddell Pacific Company opened an agricultural enterprise called White Sands Ranch near present-day Doña Ana River Boulevard and Glenn Avenue; this ranch eventually became known as White Sands Golf Course which still operates today as one of golf courses within Metro Phoenix. At about this time many developers began purchasing parcels of land east of Scottsdale Rd., south of Camelback Rd., east of Camelback Rd./ Glassell Ave., northwest of Hayden Road/Russell Rd.–all areas that would becomeGlenwood Springs soon afterwards. This initial group included Manton Sayers who purchased 7 miles (11 km) east from Scottsdale Rd.; he renamed it Gila River Ranch with views to Tempe across Gila River on his property just northwest cornering Tempe Blvd.). By 1916 Harker & Co had leased almost all remaining sections including present day Glendale from Manton Sayers allowing them to build their biggest generating facility yet at this point using local coal mined beneath Coal Creek Fault Zone under EMRGS control; now known as Arizonacoal Mine workings #1&2GILAs while new Arizonacoal Mine workings #3OpenPGZ are currently being developed by Rio Tinto Mines Corporation….Harker & Co went bankrupt in 1917 but were reorganized as Eldridge Oil Company which continued operations until 1926 when they merged with Phelps Dodge Mining Company to form Phelps Dodge Mining Corp….Eldridge OilCompany failed again in 1931 before finally folding into Socony- seaweed interests conglomerate Mobil Separation Corporation due largely to World War II military production shortages…..Today there are extant remnant physical remnants adjacent I-10 470 yards south west along route marker just past AZ State Route 85 exit 12…..

In 1968, Yasser Arafat attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head with a .22 calibre pistol while camping near Hebron in Palestine; however, this failed and Arafat survived without any injuries The following year saw another high-profile case when Bobby Kennedy was shot dead while campaigning for Senate seat in California; however both Kennedy’s assassinassassin Lee Harvey Oswald (whose prints were found on numerous documents connected to that case)and their victim Michael Collins (a Republican candidate who had been recently acquitted of charges relating to similar offences)were ultimately caught and convicted within days of each other of murder which resulted in Kennedy’s funeral being held only four months after his death

After years of discussion, voting, and council meeting progressions there was finally approval to form Glendale’s first municipal government at a meeting on November 5th 1912 under Mayor Harry Blackburne’s direction with Councilman John Purdy acting as clerk/treasurer/semiconductor commissioner; these early days saw some significant civic activity such as water system construction that are still visible today in downtown Glendale! On February 8th 1916 voters passed proposition 246 which created new boundaries for the City Limits forming present day glenardale Neighborhoods east of Camelback Road between 2nd Avenue southward to Belleview Drive; this neighborhood boundary change would provide much needed housing density near schools while also creating more open space nearby making it one of western Phoenix’s most tranquil neighborhoods! On October 1st 1917 voters passing proposition 293 approved annexation by Glendale into Surprise Valley Township where it remains today! This annexation completed land purchases from Surprise Valley Rancho Cahuilla Mexican Land grantee rancher Manuel Orozco who had been trying to purchase land adjacent to his ranch since 1906! On December 13th 1922 voters passing proposition 351 approved establishment of what would become known as “the University District” consisting of parts of DowntownGlendale bounded by 6thStreetEAST along Central Avenue NW., Euclid Avenue NE., McDowell Road SW., University Circle SW., Scottsdale Boulevard SAWWEGS parallel US-86 Business Loop EAST from 6th Street East across Central AveNW., up Scottsdale Boulevard Southwesterly past University Circle until reaching State Route 86 Business Loop WEST from 6th Street East across Central AveNW.—this district would house then Desert Research Laboratory operated by The Scripps Institution Of Oceanography located adjacent to UCLA campus until their move out in 1957! Finally annexing Surprise Valley Township gave us our current Community Parks designation – giving each community within our city limits an individual park or recreation area designated specifically for their residents alongside public transportation options available right outside their door!!! In recent years there have been several major projects undertaken within our Community Parks district including: installation of new sidewalks & streetlights throughout DowntownGlendale completely replacing aging infrastructure; renovation & expansion of City Park existing facilities including tennis courts, soccer fields etc.; addition / expansion / improvement / demolition / rehabilitation / reclamation work inside City Park District itself totaling over $60 million dollars!! These large projects not only improve access but also help maintain our beautiful downtownGlendale center while preserving its unique character!!!
