Fountain Hills is a census-designated place in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 8,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. Located in central Pima County on State Route 86 and east of Phoenix proper, Fountain Hills comprises a small rural town with rolling hills and winding streets typical of many American towns of its size. In spite of its small population size, Fountain Hills has developed into an established community with a strong sense of community spirit. The first people to settle in what is now Fountain Hills were ranchers who came from New Mexico in the early 1800s. They built cabins near present-day Apache Road and began to raise cattle and hogs for meat and hides. By 1894 there were 10 families living hereabouts. 2nd Generation: The 2nd Generation arrived around 1892 when Daniel Hildebrandt moved from Illinois to marry Anna Engstrom (née Gustafson). He had married her sister Lilla Engstrom some years earlier while she was living in Johnstown, Minnesota Territory (now northwest Kansas City). They settled on a tract of land that included present day Ada Road and parts of today's north side of Mesa Boulevard. They farmed 5 acres each until they bought more land about two miles away in 1893 which they then subdivided into lots for sale to other settlers including Harry Kapp who also started farming there about 1895/96 after coming down from Albuquerque; Fred Applegate who also purchased Lots 15-18 & 21-24A soon after purchasing those parcels; Rufus Hunt who acquired lot 20 back around 1897 or 1898; Wm Glessner Sr., purchase Lot 26 back around 1899 or1900 3rd Generation: In 1902 Isaac Newton married Jane Ackerley (née Atkinson) out east on Mohawk Indian Reservation near Ft Sill Oklahoma Territory where he had been working as a surveyor since 1879; their children include Alice Newton born 1905 AZCDS Floyd Ethel born 1911 AZCDS Milton Newton born 1915 USMC Alvaro Newton born 1917 USMC Withdrawn From Service Unknown 4th Generation: Lois Addams married George Burtchauser (brought over from Germany) on Thanksgiving Day 1918 at Our Lady's Church south side Pioneer Avenue west of Camelback Mountain range westphoenix

Fountain Hills is a small town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. Fountain Hills covers an area of and had a population of 2,812 as of the 2010 census. The community started as a post office called "Butterfly" in 1907. In 1912 it changed its name to "Fountain Hills" because of the many Fountain Heads that can be found near by. In 1945, the post office changed its name again to "Fountain Hills". The current name comes from when developers named their subdivision Fountain Hills after hills located near Scottsdale and hensfield in Phoenix suburbia. The first resident to live in Fountain Hills was Mrs. Hilda Humphreys who moved into her home on December 12, 1907. At first there were only a few people living here because it was not until 1915 that another post office called "Butterfly" opened up which served the community for 3 years only before being closed due to high demand from residents for mail service from Scottsdale and other nearby communities during World War I. After Butterfly's closure, citizens began delivering mail themselves using wagons drawn by horses or pickups trucks as early as 1917 when one Mr Fenton became interested in doing so and bought some land east of his house for this purpose; he donated all future rights to deliver mail himself through his daughter Mrs Fenton upon his death in 1935). There were also no telephone lines until 1951 when they were installed by AT&T (along with other services such as water supply and street lights) after neighbors complained about how dark it got at night without them having anything to do with it. Today, most residents have access to telecommunications either through cable or satellite providers or through WiFi which is common throughout much of Fountain Hills thanks to recent updates made by both the city government and several private companies which have built businesses within walking distance of each other like Comcast/Xfinity (through which most people get most their television programming), Walmart Supercenter (which has been operating since 1984) and McDonalds restaurants (which are open 24/7). fountain hills school district also provides education opportunities for children living within reach OfMountainHills Elementary School & Middle School while River View Christian School offers pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade programs & Holy Cross CatholicSchool offers age 10-12 religious instruction on weekdays between 9am - 4pm
