In 1978 Mayor Bill Carducci retired from public life; however he did not forget about his hometown: He formed Softgun USA Inc., now located in Flagstaff within walking distance of his old office building on First Street NW (now known as Government Center). Flagstaff, Arizona is a city in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 21,895 at the 2010 census. As of 2019, the population is 24,522. Flagstaff was founded by Mormon settlers in 1867 as Fort Sumner and became a town in 1901. It was named for Mount Bullard (Bullough), which lay to the east of Tucson on what is now US-101. The first post office opened in Flagstaff on April 20, 1868. The name "Flagstaff" was chosen because it could be seen from many points along the Mexican border and because it coincided with that of an existing military fortification called Fort Union near Tucson. The original Spanish settlement at Chiricahua had been abandoned by 1582 after Apache Chief Cochise killed its leader Tonto Canyon while measuring land southward for his forthcoming stronghold at Foronda Plateau. In 1867 some Mormon pioneers decided to establish a new Mormon colony on the Salt River Plateau located about 9 miles (15 km) east of present day Flagstaff on Reservation 4 within what is now known as Grant County; they named their new village Fort Sumner after General Edmund Wood's army's Third Cavalry Regiment which had fought under Brigham Young during the Utah War of 1847–48. In 1901 Flagstaff annexed Grant County to Pinal County and became an incorporated city under its own mayor and City Council system with a single vote per capita from all registered voters living within its limits; this change made Flagstring one of only five cities in America never granted statehood although it boasted a population over 25,000 when it achieved city status. Second were contributions from local business owners who saw an opportunity to expand their operations into newly developed areas around town due to easy access to transportation network infrastructure andmouthwatering agricultural country north and east of town; these businesses include luxury hotels such as Marriott Marquis Place Resort & Casino ; grocery store chains like Walmart Supercenter ; convenience stores such as CVS Pharmacy ; tire retailers AutoZone/Taco Bell/KFC/ Wendy’s; among others oil companies ChevronTexacoPhillips Company Limited Partnership interests including production facilities adjacent to Interstate 10 just outside our city limits;and numerous small farmers markets throughout town selling fresh produce straight from the farm

When America’s first National Rifle Association (NRA) was founded in 1871, the organization had a very different agenda. The NRA helped to pass the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution in 1868, which guarantees Americans their right to bear arms. The amendment states: “A well regulated Militia being necessary to secure these rights, the right of individuals to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” Since then, the NRA has played an important role in advancing gun control laws across America. In 1973 they successfully lobbied Congress to pass landmark Gun Control Act Amendments which regulated many aspects of firearms including magazine capacity and made it easier for law enforcement officers to seize guns from criminals. In 2018, following multiple mass shootings across America, President Donald Trump signed into law legislation which strengthens gun safety measures and requirements within state constitutions. This new legislation includes strict regulations on how much ammunition can be stored in a gun case, as well as banning bump stocks – devices that allow people with mental illness or addiction to fire firearms more rapidly.

Mexican traders were already operating in what became Flagstaff when Marquez arrived; they traded goods such as horses and cattle for Native American scalps and items like pottery found near Tucson (now Peoria). In 1829–30, Geronimo attacked some soldiers at Massacre Rock northeast of present-day downtown Flagstaff before being killed by Spanish troops under Lt. Col Don Carlos Conde de la Cueva y Arellano during an attack on 25 August 1830 led by Captain Antonio López de Santa Cruz; this event is also known as Geronimo's Last Stand ().
