Gun targets have been a part of Flagstaff history for many years. The first target was a blacksmith’s shop, built in 1868. The shop was the site of the first public shooting range in Flagstaff, and still exists today. Gun Targets Arizona is an organization that helps keep the range open and running, as well as promote NRA membership to area residents. The First National Rifle Association (FNA) held their annual meeting in Flagstaff on May 6th, 1912. At this meeting, it was decided that an NRA-sponsored rifle range would be built at the old post office building on 3rd Street SW. This range continued to be used by both the FNA and local gun clubs until 1958 when it closed due to lack of funding. In 1951, another NRA-sponsored rifle range opened at 7th Avenue SW which continues to be used by locals and visitors today. In 1955,Flagstaff voters approved a resolution asking the state legislature for permission to establish a new police academy within city limits. After much debate and recommendation from city leaders, Governor Beeson finally granted the request on October 15th,. The new academy opened its doors on November 1st with classes starting on January 1st 1957 . It has since grown into one of Flagstaff’s most popular tourist attractions with over 350 students enrolled each semester! There were no kids around here. That all changed in 1982 when somebody put up a sign reading "Guns Don't Kill People." Arizona became an independent republic on February 14th 1912 following a referendum that approved annexation by Mexico City without its citizens having had an opportunity to vote. On August 15th 1912 US President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating Flagstaff as the county seat with John Wesley Powell appointed as its first mayor/citizen’s councilman. The first post office opened in Flagstaff on October 16th 1912 with Wm Cushing serving as its first mail carrier In 1915 US General Douglas MacArthur relieved General John Pershing at Camp Verde south of Tucson after Pershing’s ill-fated attempt to capture Geronimo during World War I which led to many civilian deaths including twenty-one soldiers killed at San Carlos Pass . In 1916 Congressman Charles Fenton authored a bill establishing public school systems throughout all of Pima County which was passed by Congress but vetoed by Governor James Peña . When Francisco Villa bombed Phoenix on September 11th 1917 killing over sixty people including sixteen Americans within three blocks of Ground Zero this event became known as “9/11” In 1930 Mayor Harry Chandler resigned effective December 1st following allegations he engaged in corrupt business practices while serving as Mayor Flagstone National Monument was established on November 6th 1930 by President Herbert Hoover pursuant to law 10597 (47 Stat 9). The monument was dedicated by then Secretary OF War Franklin D Roosevelt who said: "It stands tall for our Nation's progress—the great national monuments symbolize American greatness." From 1934 until 1978 flagstone quarries operated adjacent to town limits making Flagstone one of America's most affluent areas since its inception

By 600 CE, firearms had spread throughout Europe and were being used by military leaders such as King Alfred the Great of England and Frankish king Clovis I of France. By 1000 CE, firearms had become commonplace across most parts of Europe and were even being used by merchants and farmers for hunting purposes. In 1248CE, Gunther von Hagens discovered fire arms made from metal that he named “barbarian guns” after his findings. Throughout history, there have been many different types of firearms introduced into the world including pistols (16th century), rifles (17th century), shotguns (19th century), machineguns (20th century) and cannons (21stcentury). Many firearm designs have been abandoned or replaced over time such as lever action rifles which became obsolete during World War II because they lacked firepower compared to tanks and artillery systems

Flagstaff, Arizona is a city in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. The name "Flagstaff" is from the Apache word for "the great fire." It has been spelled variously as Fort Sumner, Flagstaff, and Fortuna since it was founded by Italian Americans in 1847. The town began as three villages: Prescott on the Santa Catalina Mountains to the north (later called Tucson), Window Rock to the east (later renamed Phoenix), and Bullhead City to the south (later renamed Flagstaff). Prescott was founded by prospectors who were looking for a new home after leaving their previous mining areas in Colorado and Utah. When they reached the top of Santa Catalina Mountains they discovered an area that could be developed into a settlement. From here they started trading goods with Mexican settlers and Native American groups until they had enough money to build themselves a store and send someone out to trade with them. Window Rock was established about two miles north of Prescott when Spanish Adobe traders built a rancho there because of its strategic location near Abiquiu Creek on what is now known as Interstate 10. The first white man ever seen in this area was Captain John Cavanaugh who visited Window Rock on July 24, 1827 while he travelled upriver from Tucson along what is now Highway 805 towards Phoenicia Landing on Arizonan soil under military escort commanded by Colonel James Wolkwein of Mountain View Arsenal near present-day Phoenix. Arizona Territory was created from parts of New Mexico Territory including Baja California on January 12th 1864 following Mexican victory over Ulysses S Grant’s Union army at Palo Alto during the Alamo Campaign year but before Mexico could cede all territory west of Soledad River including today’s Arizona Territory wind farm area east of Yuma) due to lack of agreement between both countries over boundary issues surrounding General Francisco Villa’s Expedition against Ulysses S Grant’s forces during his “March On Washington” campaign; partaking fully within modern day Pinal County until it became part of newly organized Pinal County when Arizona statehood took place on November 16th 1912 Governor John Hance designated Flagstaff as capital city on February 22nd 1865 following recommendation from Territorial Legislature members chaired by Speaker William Gentry; choice made despite objections from Prescott which petitioned for Anza–Borrego Desert National Monument designation instead As capital city flagstone designated March 15th 1865 by Governor George Dennison just prior to establishment of courthouse Annex in downtown plaza across street from existing courthouse Erected cornerstone February 22nd 1865 After much discussion between staff & citizens volunteer work commenced initial erection works May 6th 1870 construction completed Exterior finishing touch October 9th 1870 Original cost $738 . 00 On Tuesday January 4 th 1886 sawing down main entry door signal new era began with Frisco Kid assassinated Attempt failed 5 times prior———————————————————————- On Thursday January 26 th 1886 an event occurred that forever changed Flagstaff history when $5 gold piece dropped off front porch being offered by local criminal mastermind Jameson Earp Known then only as “The Lone Gunman”————————————————————————————— In 1898 Navajo Indians led by Chief Diné Aya raided settlements northeastward along historic Route 66 reaching Flagstaff December 21st resulting in many deaths due to retaliatory killings
