In 1885, when pioneer George Hinkle established a trading post at present-day Eloy Lake along Hat Creek (the name given to what is today Ivar Ave.), he may have been among those early settlers who helped develop what would become our town’s commercial district."

Eloy is a community in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. It was founded in 1887 by prospectors of the Donner Party on the eastern end of White Sands Ranch. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. The first post office at Eloy was established November 26, 1887. The name of the town originated with prospector and later mayor Eloy Swayze who named it after his brother-in-law John A. Elmore. It took until 1893 for mail to be delivered to Eloy from Flagstaff because there were no regular mail carriers available until a wagon train came through in 1896. In 1907, railroad developer George Stephenson donated land to build the now defunct Southern Pacific Railway south of town; this led to increased development around the town center and new subdivisions being constructed on both sides of the railroad tracks. In 1912, Eloy became one of three towns along Interstate 10 that formed part of expansion for that highway when it opened up from Tempe down into what is now Pinal County. The population reached 9,000 by 1940 but declined due to World War II and other factors such as agriculture becoming more important in local economies during that time period and Decline To Population (DTP) rates set by federal planners which discouraged people from moving away from cities due to potential housing shortages created following technological advancements like television and air travel which made living near urban areas increasingly difficult or expensive. As recently as 2000, only 1% of all households in Pinal County were composed entirely of people who lived outside city limits while over 60% were within city boundaries commuting into their cities or surrounding suburbs each dayprimarily those located southward along I-10 via Phoenix and Tucson proper before expanding northward into Yuma County through Prescott Valley then eastward into Mohave County past Apache Junction before terminating at Imperial Valley just inside Baja California’s border with Mexico City itself although less than 1% currently reside within city limits anymore making it one of America’s most suburbanized counties according to some analysts however this number may be underestimating since many people have moved out into larger metropolitan areas outside county boundaries since 2000 without relocating their families within city limits . Eloy is located on Ute Creek about northeast of US Highway 827 (the old route US 80 followed). According to legend, when white man's foot prints are found several miles southeast near Ojo Caliente National Monument they suggest he crossed Ute Creek Bridge over Ute Creek about 1875 driving west across country towards Mormon Settlement area today known as Cottonwood Hills east side creek bed visible from road bridge across Gila River
