Since then, El Mirage has been home to many major corporations including Time Warner Cable (now Comcast), Dow Chemical Company and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis). Many celebrities have also made homes here including Tom Hanks and Brooke Shields among others. A large shopping mall called South Scottsdale Shopping Center opened in 2000 and now anchors much of the downtown core of El Mirage with over 20 stores including Sears & Roebuck/Greenspun Outlet malls as well as Macy's Herald Square Mall across town which once housed JCPenney before they merged with Macy's parent company STP Inc.. In addition to its retail offerings, The University of Phoenix operates several schools within walking distance of South Scottsdale Shopping Center: Chandler College Preparatory Academy next door to Sears while Marriotte Middle school borders Mesa Christian Elementary School just east of JoeBob's Pizza across from Burger King - both anchor schools inside the mall complex along with numerous other smaller buildings making up South Scottsdale Shopping Center which hosts a wide variety Of movie events year-round as well as being home to two professional sports teams: US Airways Arena hosted games during the 2002 Winter Olympics while Jobing / Fishers Proving Ground fields Coyotes hockey games annually for both boys and girls during springtime . Some regulations even went beyond just firearm laws: In 1946, Sweden passed a law regulating both civilian ownership and possession of firearms by individuals under the age of 18 years old; this law remained in effect until 1989 when it was repealed due to budgetary constraints.

In 1907, officials from Tempe decided to move the city's water supply further north so as not to compete with Phoenix for industry and jobs. They christened the new city "El Mirage" because no one could find an area that resembled either canyon or river within 12 miles (19 km). The original town hall and jail were built around this time. When Phoenix became a municipality in 1912, El Mirage became its seat; however, it continued to have its own government until 1959 when it joinedPhoenix under city management. In 1948-49 voters approved a sales tax for public works which would later be used to fund transportation improvements such as Interstate 10 and freeways across Arizona which increased traffic congestion on Main Street downtown. The population of El Mirage grew slowly throughout most of the 20th century due to many factors including veterans returning home during World War II who needed housing close by while they served; lack of available land within commuting distance for farming families; restrictive zoning ordinances that limited growth; and lack of school opportunities for children living near schools outside what was considered "the inner city." In 1960-61 ELmirage had just over 1,000 residents when plans were announced to build Mesa Verdephrine Park on adjacent property which would provide more than 3 acres (1 ha) of open space parkland per person per year starting immediately upon annexation into Mesa City limits – much needed recreational amenities given Mesa's dense central business district with only two parks serving over 5K people each! This event helped spur development along Main Street downtown resulting in more than doubling its current population since 1960! However Growth has been slower overall recently due largely to stricter building codes & lack of demand from businesses outside downtown 6 blocks radius
The El Mirage Dam and Reservoir was built by the Arizona state government in 1938 as part of a larger irrigation project. The dam was later enlarged and became operational in 1949. It serves as a storage reservoir for water used by the Phoenix metropolitan area and other parts of east-central Arizona.
