After World War II, ammunition sales decreased due to new technologies such as airguns and pellets. However, they began growing again after the passage of the National Firearms Act in 1934 which created regulations limiting manufacture of firearms with certain types of rounds. Ammunition sales peaked at around $2 million by 1978 but have declined since then because of technological advances such as airguns that are less likely to be used with explosives or live rounds. In 2016, American Outdoor Brands announced it would sell its core ammunition business to reloader manufacturer Hornady Incorporated for an undisclosed amount of money. This will eliminate all Hornady products from American Outdoor Brands’ shelves until 2021 when it plans to reintroduce some older brands into its inventory while also expanding its online presence to better serve customers who want more personalized service than traditional retailers provide.

El Mirage, Arizona is a city located in Mohave County, Arizona. The population was 5,959 at the 2010 census. As of 2001, El Mirage was the fastest-growing city in Arizona with an increase of over 20%. It is part of the Phoenix–Mesa–Scottsdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlers in what is now El Mirage were members of the Mormon Battalion who journeyed from Salt Lake City in 1847 to claim land south of which they built Fort Dearborn on December 3, 1847. The area around present-day El Mirage was surveyed by Lieutenant Colonel James Waddell and his men for a new military post called Camp McDowell on November 12, 1850. They named it after General John Custer's final battle at Little Bighorn near contemporary Prescott. The town site lay within Mission San Gabriel Arcángel’s boundaries until 1875 when it became its own mission station under control of the Catholic Church hierarchy. A post office operated at El Mirage from 1865 to 1880; it changed its name to Mount Pleasant on October 15, 1870 because Mount Pleasant Rancho Niguel had been purchased by John Prentiss Hearn for $5 per acre (equivalent to $ as of 2016). In 1886, following creation of Mohave County as organized territory there were two adobe buildings erected for county offices: one near today's police substation and one east side of McKnight Boulevard between First Avenue and Echo Road. Ulysses S Grant visited the area during his visit through Apache County on March 17 and 1868; he referred to it as "the most interesting place I have seen since I left home". The community experienced rapid growth following incorporation due largely to job opportunities available related to natural resources such as coal mining and grazingland used for cattle feeding operations nearby; irrigation systems were also constructed resulting in increased crop yields before World War II halted development altogether although some small businesses continued operation into that era. As a municipally-owned city, El Mirage enjoyed some unique privileges such as being able to levy taxes based on property values instead of acreage or population size. During World War II, El Mirage played an important role in helping support military operations in desert areas by providing housing and food for troops and supplying water rights for army encampments near Las Vegas
