Douglas, Arizona is a small town in Pima County, Arizona. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. Douglas is located on the Roanoke River about 25 miles east of Tucson and about 40 miles northwest of Phoenix. The first settler in Douglas was John Dickey in 1885. He founded a log cabin on the edge of what is now Douglas Park. A post office called Douglas was established in 1888, and remained in operation until 1902.
