Douglas, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. It is located on the east side of the county and just south of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Douglas is part of the Phoenix–Mesa–Scottsdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town's origin can be traced back to 1886 when two men named Waddell and Shaver started a sawmill in what is now Douglas. In 1905, they merged with another mill to form Shaver-Waddell Manufacturing Company. The company manufactured lumber until 1959 when it closed down because of competition from cheaper imports from Canada. In 1967, Shaver-Waddell merged with Armour Alloys Corporation to become Armour Incorporated (now Dow Chemical Co.). Over time, many businesses have moved into Douglas but its main industry has continued to be manufacturing products for export such as aluminum cans and automotive parts. Today, Douglas remains an agricultural community with various industries including cattle ranching and farming; however, it also boasts a number ofigious local businesses which include two hospitals (Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Scotts Valley Healthcare), three banks (Benjamin Moore & Co., Citizens Bank & Trust Company-owned branch in downtown Douglas - one of only two banks in town-and Wells Fargo), three shopping centers (Douglas Mall - anchored by Sears) and several major restaurants including Baja Cantina Mexican restaurant and Apache Grill Buffeteteria which serve up American cuisine as well as international dishes such as Thai curries. The history of Douglas goes back even further than that! One account starts with James Hutton who settled there around 1800 after being shipwrecked off the coast of Mexico while exploring Spanish California. He could not find his way back so he built a fortuitous rock outcropping where he now resides today called "Hutton Hill". From here he surveyed this area for potential settlements before finally choosing to move his people overland to what is now Pinal County in 1824 according to one account! As time went on other pioneer families followed suit until everything within present day Pinal County had been claimed or developed by some individual or group!

In India, about 1000 BC, someone developed a hand-held bow that featured a different type of grip called an tourniquet strap or thong sling (see photo below). This type of grip allowed shooters to shoot arrows with precision because they could keep their hands close to the bow instead of having them dangling down at arm's length like with other methods. Douglas, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 1,851 at the 2000 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Douglas is east of Tucson and west of Phoenix. The Douglas Hills are to the north and east of town. The first European visitors to Douglas were Caiaphas Cooke and his band of Mormon missionaries in 1848. They discovered an Indian camp on July 20, 1848 when they rode into what is now Douglas from Yuma County on their way to explore what lay beyond the mountains thatseparated Yuma from Prescott Valley. Cooke named the place after General James Halleck's headquarters at Fort Yuma (later renamed Prescott) near present-day Phoenix. Douglas was given its name by surveyor George Atherton in 1860 because he found several trees with "Douglas" carved upon them near the junction of both Umatilla Creek and Apache Trail roads leading northeastward to Williamsburg in Maricopa County. Atherton had been surveyor general for Arizona Territory during most of 1861–1865 and had overseen many important surveys including those that led tothe naming of certain towns within Pinal County including Douglas, Cottonwood Heights, Fountain Hills, etc.). In 1865 John Wesley Powell visited central Pinal County while exploring southwestern Arizona for Massacre Canyon prospectors working for New Mexican gold seekers; he noted that there were no settlements or water supplies nearer than about 10 miles due west along Apache Trail but that this region was full of large canyons called The Gila Monster because deposits there appeared like giant teeth from a distance). In early 1865 Powell directed Ulysses S Grant's Expedition against Apaches living east of the Grand Canyon as part of General Crook's campaign against Resistance Indians who continued to resist white settlement throughout muchOf central Arizona although some Arizonans did support Indian resistance (e.g., Tom Cochran). On October 14th 1865 Grant ordered General Philip Sheridan's Division under Major General John J Pershing across Apache Pass into The Gila Monster National Monument which included much valuable silver ore mined nearby since 1785 by Spanish/Mexican miners known as Curraheepeque de la Huerta y Pavón who also usedApache Reservations adjacent to present day Douglas where they built numerous adobe structures including La Casa de las Ametralladoras where today’s El Centro shopping center is located
