Cottonwood, Arizona is home to one of the most important shooting locations in the United States. The town is located near the intersection of Mohave and Apache roads, just outside of Phoenix. It was here that ranchers and miners began using gunfire as a means of settling disputes in what would become known as the Old West. In 1883, Cottonwood became a stop on the overland telegraph line between Phoenix and Tucson. This allowed for frequent gunfights between Mormon missionaries and Apache Indians living in nearby Cochise County. As a result, rifle shooters from Cottonwood started taking their skills to other parts of the country. By 1907, more than 100 rifles were being used at Cottonwood events. Despite its importance to Americanshooters, there has been little development within the community around firearms safety since those days. That ceased to be true after a gunman opened fire inside an Arizona high school in 2013. At least 14 people were killed and 20 were injured when Jared Loughner shot into a classroom full of children before killing himself. This event served as an impetus for change within Cottonwood; tensions among residents have slowly begun to dissipate since then. Today, NRA members make up almost half of all registered shooters in Cottonwood; however, only about 10% of residents are licensed handgun owners or carry permits (which must be renewed annually). While it’s still not common for citizens to openly carry handguns throughout their town square (or even venture out onto Mohave Road), many residents feel that such precautions are necessary given recent shootings across America involving gunmen with mental health issues or drug addiction problems

Mrs. Woolson attended school until she was 12 years old when her family moved to Cottonwood after purchasing land from the Apache tribe for $5 per acre (worth $100 today). In 1887, Mr. Woolson organized the first town meeting in Cottonwood with 21 citizens attending including six women who served as trustees responsible for physical improvements such as street cleaning and water supply while also providing financial support for town meetings that would later result in incorporation into an entity known as “Cottonwood Township” with boundaries drawn by surveyors hired by Mr. Woolson himself – all without vote or consent from those living within the township limits! In 1904, Mr. Woolson donated 3 acres of land north of downtown Cottonwood to begin what would become known as Lady Bird Johnson Park which features still one of the most popular attractions located near downtown: Lady Bird Lake! Today, Lady Bird Lake features presidential golf courses (US presidents have often visited), picnic areas for campers and children alike, several restaurants/bars/cafes open day & night during summer months (the only place outside of downtown where you can enjoy outdoor activities), plus an IMAX movie theater that screens Hollywood films during daytime hours!
