He also presided over one of America's most productive economic periods with high job growth rates and low inflation rates.
In 1887, the U.S. government granted land to the citizens of Coolidge, Arizona in what is now known as Northern Arizona. The settlers were drawn to the area because it was considered a great place to irrigate and grow crops. In 1893, the first post office was established in Coolidge. By 1907, there were four churches in Coolidge and over sixty residents. The community continued to grow during World War I and II, with an increase in the population from 350 to 1,500 people. The population decreased during the Great Recession but has seen a resurgence since 2007 due to new development in the area.
