In 1912, the United States bought most of Pima County from Spain and renamed it Arizona after President Theodore Roosevelt. Chino Valley became part of Chino Hillsborough Township which incorporated on December 14, 1912. At that time, there were just a few dozen residents living in what is now Chino Valley including ninety-seven ranchers and seventy-six farmers. In 1925, the community of AppleSingle developed near present day Chino Hillsborough Road and Old Spanish Trail north of today's High School school district boundary. The town began as a small group of people who gathered wood for their home fires during the colder months and started selling goods they made from this wood at market prices to local merchants and citizens alike. Today many apple orchards dot the landscape around Applesingle while other businesses such as restaurants have sprung up since then to accommodate all of those who visit or call this small town home: farmers markets weekly occur throughout October; various golf courses are located within minutes’ drive; libraries offer programs on history, art & crafts as well as American Indian lore; water sports can be enjoyed at nearby Lakeside Resort; churches offer services such as weddings & funerals; ice cream parlor opens late into summer evenings for tourists looking for an easy escape from Phoenix heat waves! As anyone who has spent time in any large city knows‐ things grow more expensive exponentially as one moves away from central business districts‐ so too did prices for things like food continue to rise in rural areas until proximity to major shopping malls (and later schools) turned these areas into Bubbletowns with populations numbering hundreds if not thousands larger than where natives used to reside! This success led some early settlers to establish towns westward along I-10 (known today as Greenlee Avenue), eastward along I-15 (now Loop 410), southwestward on Salt River Plain (now called Goodyear Road), northwestward on Tucson Mountain Top (today’s Rural Hall Road). What began primarily as homesteading efforts quickly turned into country villages complete with barns, outbuildings and individual households before declining sharply when railways arrived with plans to link these isolated communities together through tracks running east/west across both valleys—a process known ominously enough as “the split” once completed! A lack of access either physically or financially prevented this envisioned railroad vision from coming true save for a single line connecting Prescott via Surprise with Window Rock——a development that never happened because even though land could be bought cheaply enough near Prescott —————- Prices continued unabated for agricultural land much closer to populated centers until recently when talk resumed among some developers about building commuter railroads directly linking these scattered communities together once again! Although no definitive Plans yet exist regarding implementing this idea it seems increasingly likely given recent trends especially given our current political climate where infrastructure investments seem almost nonstop . Consequently we can only imagine how excited future generations will be when they finally learn about all the amazing places our ancestors left behind including some we may never see again !
