In the early 1900s, Chino Valley was a place where hard gun cases were a part of everyday life. It was an agricultural area and the guns used here were often made of brass or bronze. These days, most people in Chino Valley would be familiar with the term “gun case”, but there was once a time when this moniker held more significance than just something to store firearms in. The first Guns and Ammo show took place in Chino Valley on July 29th, 1911. This event marked the beginning of what is now known as “the Gun Case Era”. During this time, it became commonplace for companies like Winchester and Colt to exhibit their latest revolvers and shotguns at this annual trade show. This allowed customers to get their hands on these weapons before they ever went into production. This era also saw a surge in new gun laws being passed by state legislatures across America. As a result, many companies began producing handguns that could only be shipped through licensed dealerships. This led to increased demand for these products and helped spur the development of what is now known as the pistols market. Today, if you want to purchase a handgun in Chino Valley, you must go through one of the several licensed dealerships located throughout the city. The process of buying a firearm here can be quite tedious though not difficult if you have some experience with firearms and know how to shop around for deals!
