Chino Valley, Arizona is a small town located in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 6,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Chino Valley has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 10,000 years and is one of the oldest towns in Arizona. In 1868, John Wesley Powell discovered Chino Valley and named it after his friend and mentor, General George Armstrong Custer. The town was founded on December 1st 1865 by Captain Wm Halsey and Mr. Snedeker from Prescott along with twenty others when they traveled through the Tucson Mountains looking for a route to California. They were searching for a wagon road that would connect eastern Arizonans with those living in San Francisco Bay Area. Today, Chino Valley remains an agricultural community with many crops such as corn, beans, cotton and potato; however there are also some residential areas including several thousand residents who work in downtown Phoenix or nearby businesses like Verizon Wireless Field (now known as Chase Field), Mohawk Industries Park (Now Home Depot) and numerous other large employers that continue to contribute to the economy of the community today.

Chino Valley is a small town located in the Tucson metropolitan area in southern Arizona. The valley was originally populated by the Chinos, an Apache tribe who ranched and mined coal and other minerals. In 1912, the city of Phoenix was founded on the site of what is now Chino Valley. The population of Chino Valley slowly grew as mining operations ceased and people began to move into the valley to find a new home. Today, there are over 2,000 residents in Chino Valley which consists of three towns: Agua Caliente, Cave Creek, and west-central Chino Valley. The first white settlers in Chino Valley were prospectors from California who discovered coal near the mouth of Cave Creek Canyon in 1884. After finding some valuable coal seams, these men built several mines in Chino Valley before selling their holdings to local Mexicans who started trading with American companies for goods including gold nuggets that were brought back to America by railroads. By 1900, most of these miners had left for various reasons such as health problems or poverty within their own communities. Only a few hundred residents still live within today’s boundaries of Agua Caliente County and Cave Creek County while most residents reside within east-central Cochise County where they continue traditional farming activities such as irrigating crops and raising livestock. Mining operations have resumed around recent years but are not as profitable as they once were so many people are working instead indoors or outfitting themselves with modern technology like cell phones and computers when they should be focusing on their families rather than extracting resources from nature
Chino Valley was founded in 1867 by Mexican immigrants, and became a major cultural center for the region. The area is also home to several shopping malls and restaurants.
