The park features rugged hills covered with mesa and canyonlands that are home to a diversity of wildlife including 6 national parks: Iberian pygmy bear; Roosevelt elk; Mogollon Rimactus; Four Peaks Wilderness; Kaibab Forest Preserve; Apache Junction Open-air Museum & Interpretive Center; Mill Valley Wildlife Preserve & Nature Trail; Santa Catalina Mountains National Monument).
