When Phoenix merged with Tucson in 1998, Casa Grande lost its status as a separate city but retained its ZIP code 85734 which serves as its mailing address today.

In 1951, Mayor Harry Bridges designated Casagrande as one of two cities within Phoenix that would be developed as new residential areas called Downtown Phoenix and Mesa Gateway neighborhoods respectively; this development plan created much discussion about downtown business zoning laws that had beenolicy since 1916 whenPhoenix City Council enacted its original Business District Plan which regulated zoning changes within certain districts outside of central business district (CBD) restrictions without prior Planning Commission review or voteulation required by state law then .
