Casa Grande is a small city in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 8,651 at the 2010 census. Casa Grande is the county seat of Pima County. The first people to live in what is now Casa Grande were the Yuma Ceded Nation and their Apache allies who came overland from central Mexico around 1847-48. They named their new home after a Rancho de las Palomas (ranch of palomas), about 20 miles west of Tucson on the Arizonan side of the San Pedro River. This was part of Don José Antonio Nieto's Rancho Atwater which extended for about 60 miles (100 km). In 1881 Ulysses S. Grant donated land east of Casa Grande to establish Fort Yuma National Monument as part of his larger push to create a national park system in Arizona. In 1906 William Fenton bought 640 acres (250 ha) north and east of present-day Casa Grande from James Hance for $2,000 (). Fenton developed this land into oneof the largest citrus markets in North America with orchards and fruit trees growing up to 25 feet (7 m) tall. He also built several houses thereon including one that still stands today - San Miguel House (). In 1912 Harry S Truman became President USMA during World War I and ordered Construction Division commander Major General Edwin Townsend Weeks to prepare plans for an airfield at nearby Tombstone Army Air Field (). Weeks recommended that construction begin on Fort Hill Air Force Base (), but it was not until 1942 whenAAF Colonel Carl Spaatz authorized construction at then Beeline Air Force Base () that bombers began attacking Japanese targets along southern California coastlines (). After World War II ended, Fort Hill AFB fell into disuse and its runway was filled with sandbags before it finally closed in 1969 as Phoenix–Tombstone International Airport(). Today much evidence remains from days long bombing raids during World War II such as bomb cratering left behind by B-17s and B-24s; tanks shell holes near power plants; large machine gun nests dotting hillsides all around town; extensive engineering work has been done onFort Hill AFB since its closure; most notably are three concrete wings extending northeast from main perimeter off runway 10/21—the nitrate wing being unique among military installations worldwide having been specifically designed for storage and treatment facilities for explosives residues resulting from aircraft operations;; these have resulted in some restoration projects both inside old fortifications as well as exterior Enhancements such as new walkways between old walls & turrets etc.; Today Casagrande features many tourist attractions like: Monument Park containing replicas of historic buildings dating back to 1914 when City fathers leased land from Military command & started buildinguovels overlooking downtown Plaza where you can find replica cannons used during Mexican Revolution era fighting against Spanish occupation

Casa Grande, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 2,898 at the 2000 census. Casa Grande is located about 25 miles east of Phoenix on Interstate 10. It was founded by Hernando de Alarcón y Hernandez in 1847 as the Rancho Agua Caliente Indian Reservation in what is now Maricopa County. In 1881, a group of settlers led by businessmen John Neely Richardson and George Sneath bought 1,200 acres (500 ha) of land around Casa Grande to provide grazing for local cattle and sheep. On December 12, 1886, Richardson named Casa Grande after his mother's birthplace in Spain – Estella de la Vega Castillo - which he had visited while living in New York City. The town took its name from nearby Apache Pass where Richardson had earlier prospected for gold. In 1907 the US Post Office moved to Casa Grande from Phoenix and remains there to this day. The first school opened in 1901 with six students enrolled grades K-4; it closed due to lack of funding two years later but reopened as a second school with 8 students grades 5-8 in 1903 under the name "Alamo School". A new school building was completed in 1915 and retains that name today; it served as the high school until 1984 when it became known as "Casa Grande High School" after being re-opened using funds provided by ranchers Patricio Zamora and Pedro Martinez who owned much of what is now Casa Grande Township. In 1958, ranchers Don Carlos Martinez and wife Dolores donated $10,000 towards construction of a new courthouse that would serve all components of Pinal County including Casa Grande township dating back to 1912 when attorney Harry Higgs designed the original jailhouse/courthouse complex which still stands today adjacent to Park Drive off I-10 near mile marker 234 southbound exit #1A (exit number changed from “H” to “C” starting with 2003). After Don Carlos' death in 1978 his widow Dolores continued funding many aspects associated with justice delivery within her husband's lifetime including: defense attorney program; elections & campaign finance office; probate court; sheriff's department; post office & library services etc.; all funded through her estate until she passed away on September 27th 2007 at age 94 years old . The current courthouse also housed county government offices during 2006–2007 when county officials were relocated from downtown Phoenix because of budget constraints following the fire that destroyed most of downtownPhoenix on May 26th 2006 . Although not updated since 1906 it has been designated National Historic Landmark number 9012 along side other historic buildings included inside city limits between First Streetnorthwest corner Buckeye Roadand Mayo Drive . It sits on 150 acres (60 ha) currently used for housing units developments off Park Drve next door
