Casa Grande, Arizona is a city in Pima County, Arizona. The population was 927 at the 2010 census. Casa Grande is adjacent to Tucson and has a shared economic base with that city. It is also adjacent to Maricopa County, which contains Phoenix. The name "Casa Grande" comes from the Baja California Miwok word "kasa-guneh" meaning "settlement of the white people." The first European to encounter the area was Captain Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on his sailing vessel San Salvador in 1542. He named the area Yuma for a local chief who had helped him find it during his survey of western Arizona. Spanish traders and travelers visited this region for years before American settlers arrived in 1869 and began hunting Apache Indians near present-day Casa Grande while they were living among the Lipan Apaches south of Tucson. In 1886, General Pershing offered $10,000 for any Indian dead or captured within 5 miles (8 km) of Tucson in what became known as the Apache Wars. In 1887, two groups of Mormon pioneers arrive from Utah: George Romney and Wilford Woodruff led by Brigham Young Jr.. They founded Salt Lake City on the east side of what is now Roosevelt Boulevard in central Tucson and erected a fortification called Fort Union around which they developed their agricultural society over time. These early Mormons were followed by many others as cattle ranchers arrived to try to achieve an efficient water system for their holdings that extended into today's Mohave Desert . A small community sprang up around these initial pioneers but soon abandoned when roads were built northward from Tucson through rural areas where there was little available water or land for ranching ventures; one such road would eventually become Interstate 10 . By 1907 there were more than twenty businesses operating within Casa Grande limits including general storekeepers, farmers, bankers, miners and lumberjacks – social distinctions barely existed outside these business circles . As new industries emerged within town limits (the development of printing presses throughoutArizona during World War I helping spur increased immigration), social distinctions slowly blurred until becoming nothing more than socio-economic categories rather than individual experiences unique unto themselves.

Casa Grande is a small town and census-designated place in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 8,581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. Casa Grande's namesake was General John Fetterman who built his fortification in 1868 on the mesa overlooking the now defunct town of Casagrande. The first permanent settler in what would become Casa Grande was Tom Cavanaugh in 1875. In 1905 squatters took up residence near Scottsdale while construction began on Camelback Mountain Resort; by 1907 most of the settlers had moved out to new homes east of town near Mohave Lake and south of I-10. Casagrande post office opened in 1902 and stayed open until it closed on July 15, 1954 due to low mail volume. In 1916 local citizens organized a committee to start a water system for their community and raised $5,000 from individuals, businesses and civic organizations to complete the project which cost $27,000. Construction began on May 3, 1917 with completion two years later on October 10th . On October 14th 1918 during World War I an aerial bombardment destroyed most of the fortifications including Thomas Fetterman’s house which still stands today as a nostalgic reminder of that time period
Casa Grande, Arizona is located in the central Phoenix metropolitan area and is the county seat of Pinal County. The town was founded by Don Carlos Castillo in 1867 as a trading post on the Gila River. The present-day Casa Grande was established in 1886 when it became a part of the larger town of Prescott. It had a population of about 10,000 people when it passed from hands of the Castillos to that of the Wright brothers in 1912. In 1924, Prescott merged with Peoria and Casa Grande became part of that city’s consolidated government. The population peaked at around 25,000 in 1950 but has decreased since then; today there are about 10,000 people living in Casa Grande proper and about 8500 more living elsewhere within Pinal County.
