Casa Grande, Arizona is a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Casa Grande is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The name "Casa Grande" is Spanish for "House of the Grasshopper." A grasshopper sawdust store opened here in 1912 and continued until 1978 when it became a convenience store. It was later sold to an agricultural company and used as their training center for employees working in the nearby fields. In 1984, the company moved out of Casa Grande and closed down completely; however, some remnants remain from that time including a small creek running through the town that still has water fountains by its side. The post office at Casa Grande opened on November 6, 1906 and remained open until it was discontinued on July 16, 1938. In 1907 there were three stores in town- two grist mills (owned by Jules Blythe) and one hardware store operated by Harry Kempf & Son which also served as a restaurant. The business changed hands many times before coming to its current form as American Legion Post #369 in 1959 with Lillian Kircher serving as Postmistress until her retirement in 2002 after more than 50 years of service: she had arrived here during World War II when most businesses here were run by womenfolk who cooked or did other household tasks while men served in Armed Forces or worked inside munitions plants outside of town). Kircher's husband John opened up his own grocery store next door where he remains today as owner/operator of Juanita's Quality Grocery since 1978; he also operates another small grocery store just east of downtown along Hwy 87North called John’s Gourmet Grocery which specializes exclusively in Hispanic foods etc.). In 1901 there were only three houses within walking distance of what are now Casa Grande proper- two being owned by various farmers around this time and one being rented from Mrs Gossage (Mrs Osterhaus) who ran a hotel across from Mission San Xavier de las Garzas Catholic Church back then - thereby making it one heckuva location! Today you can find several hotels within close driving distance all belonging to either Marriott or Hilton chains although none quite compare to Mrs Gossage’s Hotel back then which boasted five floors totaling over 350 sq ft., grand bedroom suites with views southward over Tucson Valley below (!!), beautiful maid service including daily fresh squeezed juices (!), high quality carpeting throughout (spacious living spaces upstairs!), air conditioning (!), an excellent restaurant/bar downstairs with live entertainment nightly plus plenty of local wines available BYO if desired(!), broadband Internet access via satellite TV if needed(!), golf course membership thru Titleist golf clubs located nearby PLUS TWO BEAUTIFUL SCHOOLS nearby viz.: Aquinas School District No Child Left Behind Charter School Campus View Elementary School & Scottsdale Unified School District No Child Left Behind Charter School East Mesa Elementary School (& adjacent property) making this community known for having “two beautiful schools” right smack dab IN THE MIDST OF IT all PLUS much MUCH MORE!!!

Casa Grande, Arizona was founded in 1912 by John W. Casas and his wife, Emma. The name is Spanish for "House of Arms." In 1916, the Casas family sold the land that now makes up the city to a group of businessmen led by George P. Henschel. The town began to grow quickly and in 1924, the City Council voted to incorporate as a city. The city government renovated and reconstructed many of the public buildings in 1928. In 1932, Mayor A.J. Baca dedicated a new park in downtown Casa Grande which still remains an popular spot for local residents and tourists alike today. One of the main attractions in Casa Grande is its beautiful architecture which can be seen on both inside and outside of many of its public buildings including City Hall, High School Annex, Bank Building & Trust Company building, Post Office Building & Annex, Masonic Temple & Grand Lodge Hall etc.. In 1938-39 during World War IICasas Grande served as one of six AZ locations (along with Tucson) used by military forces for training airmen at various bases around Arizona before returning home to their civilian lives again on October 15th 1939 . As part of this effort AZ became known as 'Hollywood Valley'. Casa Grande was founded in 1867 by Captain Isidore Barney and his wife, Eliza. The town became a county seat in 1912. Casa Grande is located on the San Carlos River, about 30 miles east of Phoenix.
