Casa Grande is a census-designated place in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. Casa Grande is located at 33°48′N 112°14′W (33.8667 N 112.3167 W). The area that would become Casa Grande was first settled by Mexicans in 1853 and named for Rancho Santa Fe de Ariz., also in Pinal County. A post office called Casa Grande was established in 1858, and remained open until 1912. In 1865 the railroad arrived to carry goods to Mexican miners near present-day Tucson, creating a boomtown atmosphere around the depot on the tracks. The town gradually grew as cattle ranchers came to live hereabouts and settlers began arriving from scattered parts of Mexico with their families seeking escape from violence and poverty back east. By 1870 Casa Grande had over 1,000 residents; it became an important Apache Trail stop due to its strategic location between Prescott and Tombstone on one side and San Francisco on the other side of what is now Mohave County. Despite strong economic development during its early years,Casagrande lost some of its vibrancy when Arizona became a state in 1912; businesses left for lack of business opportunities or because of new laws enacted by Governor Manuel Nieto prohibiting immigration from Mexico without proper documentation In 1925 much of what remains today Ofria Terrace were developed into what is now subdivisions known as “Old Town” which bordered by Broadway on the south side and Yale Avenue on the north side contain many old buildings dating back to pre-statehood days including two churches still standing long after most people have left town . Today you can find examples ofadobe architecture all through Old Town while Villa Park has taken over more recent commercial development including several high rise buildings housing small businesses containing apartments within them

It thrived until 1885, when a natural disaster destroyed most of the village. The Casa Grande Indian Reservation was established in 1912 by the United States government as part of a larger policy ofcivilianizing Native Americans across the Southwest. The reservation encompassed parts of southern Arizona and western New Mexico. The first white settlers arrived in what is now Casa Grande in 1881. They were prospectors looking for new land to exploit in the Phoenix area. The town that grew up around theCasas Grande mine began to grow rapidly after1881, thanks to extensive irrigation systems built by Mormon missionaries and local ranchers. By 1907, Casa Grande had become one of Phoenix's most important neighborhoods. In 1915, members of the Dominguez family founded Mesa Verde Elementary School on Mesa Verde Road near Interstate 10 (now Camelback Road). That same year, residents of Tucson moved into areas west of I-10 and east of University Drive because they believed that those areas would be annexed into Phoenix if Tempe became a city Limits Project jurisdiction under state law at that time. In 1916, Mesa Verde Elementary became Arizona State Teachers College before being renamedTempe–MesaVerde Junior High School in 1951; it has been called CASA GRANDE ever since
