Gun pouches have been used by various groups throughout history, most notably the Apache. Gun pouches are also known to have been worn by U.S. Marines and Army troops during World War II. The Arizona Historical Society has a collection of old photographs and documents that document the use of gun pouches by both military and civilian groups in Camp Verde from 1940-1945. The first guns carried in Camp Verde were rifles and pistols purchased from the arsenal at Fort Sill,Oklahoma. These firearms were used for hunting local game such as deer, rabbit, and antelope. From 1941 through 1945, the Arizona National Guard was stationed at Camp Verde with artillery pieces such as tanks and SP guns being manhandled into position on several occasions by members of the Infantry Company “A” (1st Battalion 9th Cavalry Regiment). This unit was made up of American citizens who had volunteered to fight in World War II under the command of General George Custer. In 1942, orders arrived from Washington D C that all personal weapons including cannonsballs be surrendered to Mexican authorities if war continued unabated between America and Mexico City over control of Yuma River Valley south of Phoenix AZ . The order stated that any unused or abandoned firearms would be confiscated without trial or compensation to individuals owners. It is interesting to note that many rifle owners designate their rifles as museum objects rather than handing them over uneventfully to government officials upon retirement or death since they may never again be able to use them against conventional enemies without fear of prosecution or confiscation! As part of this program Exact Firearms Identification Cards were issued which allowed responsible gunowners reasonable access to their weapons at military installations around the country until surrender date….. [emphasis added] Many people assume that gun pouches only became popular after World War II when it became more difficult for individuals not affiliated with armies or law enforcement organizations to obtain firearms lawfully due to legislation passed following Pearl Harbor attack on December 7th 1941 which led directly into WWII! In fact, prior thereto there existed various types of firearm carriers which included those known as “bushido wrestlers” who utilized quickdraws techniques while competing in matches where swords & spears were also present; these warriors would wrestle multiple rounds out from an enemy stronghold before escaping alive! bushido wrestling is thoughtto have begun circa 1650 AD with samurai knights using similar tactics against Mongolian forces during 1249AD!![emphasis added]

In Camp Verde, Arizona, the United States Army established a military installation in 1887. The first post was at Fort Union, and it served as a garrison for the Apache Indians. In 1916, General John Pershing decided to establish a new military base in the area adjacent to Camp Verde. The general ordered Major Edwin Armstrong to build an artillery detachment at Camp Verde. Armstrong did so and named his detachment The First Battalion of Arizona Mounted Riflemen. In 1927, the First Battalion became part of The Second battalion of Arizona Mounted Riflemen. On 1 October 1928, both battalions were redesignated as Company C of the Regular Army Infantry Regiment 10th Mountain Division under command of Colonel James Wickersham. On 15 October 1931, Company C was detached from 10th Mountain Division and organized as Headquarters Battery (H B) with Captain Franklin Hurd commanding. On 17 October 1931, Captain Hurd took command of Company C from Colonel James Wickersham who had been relieved by Lieutenant Colonel Harry Lickliffe on temporary duty as Commanding Officer Coyote Creek Indian Reservation Barracksifle Tower Detachment No 5-A-2a1 which also included Companies F & G (hq battery) and detachments M & N (mortar company). At this time Camp Verde consisted of buildings located northeast corner Of Post Office lot #3 north side Of road leading east To town square west Corner Of buildings on corner lot #4 across street From Theater

The Camp Verde Apache Nation reservation, located in the Tucson area of Arizona, dates back to 1868. The tribe founded the camp on the edge of a mesa overlooking the San Pedro River. In 1912, during World War I, Camp Verde was used as a training ground for American soldiers. In 1945, it became home to the 9th Infantry Division's provisional headquarters during World War II. From 1941-1945, Camp Verde also served as an airfield for bombers from Project Mockingbird. Today, Camp Verde is a National Historic Landmark and offers visitors opportunities to learn about its history and culture through tours and activities such as ranger programs and night walks.
Camp Verde was a prehistoric archaeological site in the Phoenix metropolitan area, located about 5 miles southwest of downtown. The camp was discovered in 1974 by amateur archaeologist and amateur historian Donnie Seibert, while working on his Master's degree at Arizona State University. It is now operated as a museum by the same name. The first European to visit Camp Verde were Spanish explorers Jusepe de Bobadilla and Francisco Pizarro in 1541. Mexican Exploration party led by Hernando Narváez reached the location in 1602 but did not stay long because of Native American resistance. In 1769, Antonio José de Urrutia y Guzmán discovered copper mines at Yucca Hill east of Tucson and claimed the land for Mexico. The United States acquired this land from Mexico in 1848 when they ceded part of New Mexico to America via Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. In 1867, Asa Richardson built an adobe fort on what is now known as Fort Richardson which served as a trading post for local farmers and ranchers during the Apache Wars (1868-1871). From here, soldiers could watch over the herds of cattle that ran wild through nearby hillsides. On December 12th 1870, John Wesley Powell became the first person to enter Grand Canyon National Park when he ascended its eastern rim with his party on horseback following an ancient trade route between Arizona and Nogales that he had been told about from his father-in-law's ranch hand, Juan Bautista Longino. Prescott attempted to acquire Camp Verde from Richardson but failed due to financial constraints; it remained under military control until 1958 when it became part of the University Districts program within Phoenix City Schools which today manages it as part of Museum Services Department encompassing all municipally owned historical sites in Phoenix city limits including Camp Verde which forms one half mile square inside Museum boundaries
