Bullhead City, Arizona is a small town located in Pinal County, Arizona. It is the county seat of Pinal County and has a population of just over 1,000 residents. The city was founded in 1884 by George W. Stephenson and named after his hometown of Bullhead City, Scotland. Bullhead City has been a busy agricultural center for many years and its economy now focuses on services and retail trade. The city's downtown area is home to several major businesses including Wells Fargo bank,JP Morgan Chase bank, Apache Corp., and Microsoft corporation. The city's population slid below 1,000 until it hit 700 in 1930 before declining again to 400 by 1940. However, since then there have been occasional surges in population due to revivals of interest in mining or ranching around Bullhead City – including a notable influx during the 2000s when copper prices spiked after new mines were discovered near Flagstaff. Today, althoughBullhead City is still struggling economically (it has lost its status as an economic center), it remains one of Phoenix's most vibrant neighborhoods with character-rich buildings dating back to its founding days.
