The history of Buckeye’s gun shirt industry is reflective of its larger community. The area that now makes up Buckeye was first settled in 1887 by Mormon settlers. At that time, there were no firearms allowed on Utah soil and the Mormons relied instead on Native Americans for protection. When World War I began, many Mormon men enlisted in the military to fight for their religion and Country. Many t-shirts commemorating this time period feature images of soldiers holding rifles or wearing helmets with “Mormon Rifleman” written on them. Gun t-shirt manufacturing slowly began to take off during World War II as people became more interested in owning a firearm and protecting themselves and their families. The war introduced new technologies into the firearms market which led to an increase in production around Buckeye. Gun companies such as Colt Firearms Manufacturing Incorporated (now Springfield Armory) produced high quality firearms including assault rifles and shotguns used by US Special Operations Forces throughout World War II. In 1945, local entrepreneur Carlisle Gilbert founded Buckeye Corporation which manufactured agricultural products such as flour, milk, eggs, potatoes and other commodities from soils that had been enriched with uranium mining concessions in eastern Arizona . Gilbert also developed what would become one of Buckeye’s most distinguishing assets: his 3% interest in Colt Firearms Manufacturing which he sold to American Arms Industries plc (AAI) for $5 million dollars in 1984 . This acquisition marked a turning point for Colt Firearms Manufacturing which saw increased production rates due to AAI’s investment whereas prior operations had been less efficient due to lack of resources . As AAI rapidly expanded its operations through acquisitions across several industries including ammunition sales (to Smith & Wesson), engineering services (to Winchester Repeating Arms Company), components manufacturing (to Magpul Industries) and marketing services (to Browning handgun company), it quickly became one of America’s leading firearms manufacturers – eclipsing even Glock AG though both firms continue to operate under different corporate brands today

Buckeye is a small town in Arizona, located about 20 miles east of the city of Phoenix. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,847. Buckeye is the home to The University of Phoenix and is also known for its annual Apple Festival which takes place on the first weekend in September.

In 1867, the United States government bought land in what is now Buckeye, Arizona from the padres. The area was part of the Mexican territory of Arizona until it was acquired by the US in 1846 as part of the Compromise of 1850. The land was purchased for $3,500 and given to a group of Americans led by Captain John Bumgarner. In 1869, Bumgarner organised a group of men who named themselves "The Pioneers" and set out from Tucson towards Buckeye. On July 15th 1870 they reached Buckeye after crossing the Salt River on a ferry. They camped at what is now Fort Apache National Monument while they awaited permission to build a trading post. On October 9th 1870, Indians attacked their encampment and killed 10 people including 5 Americans. Captain Bumgarner fled with his family into Mexico where he died in 1865. His widow took over management of the post and continued toexist until her death in 1902.. Today, Fort Apache National Monument still contains some evidence of early American settlement such as buildings that date back to 1868-1870.
