Buckeye, Arizona is located in the Apache Hills region of the US state of Arizona. It is a town that was founded in 1881 by George P. Hinkle and named for the Buckeye tree found near the town site.
Buckeye is a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The name Buckeye first appeared on a map in 1868 when it was part of Apache County. In 1912, Buckeye became a city and was named for John A. Buckey who served as mayor from 1911 to 1913 and again from 1925 to 1927. The city was incorporated on November 14, 1912. In 1924, the Pima County courthouse burned and made way for the new building which eventually housed the Tucson Judicial Branch office before being demolished in 2006 to make way for an apartment complex. In 1888-89, Wm Hays sent out surveyors to explore possible sites for a new county seat and they reported back that they had found two likely locations: one near Phoenix and the other about 35 miles due north of Tucson on what would become known as Indian Wells Road (now Buckeye Boulevard). On May 10th, 1889 by act of the Legislature (2nd Session), Pima County was organized with its present boundaries including what are now Buckeye Township, Apache Valley Village (later East Mesa), parts of now Tombstone and Scottsdale counties and all or portions of three other townships: Allonville (northwest corner of Indian Wells Road and east side of Prescott Avenue), Buena Vista (southwest corner of Prescott Avenue and east side of Loop 1604) John A. Buckey had long been interested in buying land eastward along Indian Wells Road from his ranch holdings in Apache Valley Village so he could build a town there on his own property that would be called "Buckeye". The first buildings were built around 1915 when John's son Fred took over management until Fred's death in 1928 when his son George took over operations until 1945 when management passed completely to their daughter Dorothy because her father died intestate leaving her majority share ownership interest in town. Finally restyling occurred between 1945-1948 according to then current zoning regulations which allowed only single family dwellings with no more than four bedrooms per house each although presently there are several dozen such dwellings scattered throughout most if not all sections within Town limits – but many more are located just outside existing town limits adjacent to Interstate 10/ Route 66 service areas including Goodyear Lakeside Resort & Spa while still serving as residences primarily used by retirees living close by rather than those commuting into Tucson; yet these newer structures retain much similarity with older ones both inside AND outside their walls! It should also be noted that prior thereto existing Post Office buildings erected circa 1907-1911 have since been replaced by newer structures mainly employed as residence halls/motels marketed mostly towards retirees living near I-10 freeway service areas especially Goodyear Lakeside Resort & Spa while still serving primarily as residences used mainly by retirees living closeby rather than those commuting into Tucson; yet these newer structures retain much similarity with older ones both inside AND outside their walls! In general terms it appears that development within today’s Town Limits has proceeded largely unchecked except insofar as some small amount OF Planning & Zoning Control may have been exercised originally during earlier years followinghdroughout decades experience leading up thereto; however recent trends point emphatically towards continuing rapid growth without any major impact whatsoever upon currently large numbers or qualityof life enjoyed therein generally speaking!

Buckeye is a small town in Arizona that was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1868. The name Buckeye comes from the Apache word "buca" which means "place of caves." The people of Buckeye started trading with the Apaches and selling goods such as horses, cattle, and corn. In 1879, the town was named after John C. Fremont, who had become governor of Arizona Territory during the Mexican-American War. After Governor Fremont's death in 1881, his successor, Don Carlos Báez appointed James W. Fenton as the first mayor of Buckeye. Later that year, Fenton built a cotton gin and store on Main Street. In 1886, Fenton sold his business to Arent Halsey for $10,000 dollars. By 1890, Buckeye had a post office and two churches: one German Lutheran and one Protestant Baptist. In 1899, Samuel Sánchez acquired ownership of the cotton gin and store from Fenton. From then until 1916 (!), Samuel Sánchez ran the town's affairs through a board of trustees consisting of himself, his wife Alma (née Dodge), son Harry Dodge (1902-2001), grandson Sam Dodge (1908-2006) and grandson Jesse Dodge (1911-2002). In 1916 (*), Samuel Sánchez died at age ninety-six years old while still headmaster of Mesa High School in Mesa AZ; he had been running the school since it opened in 1912 when it was part of Scottsdale Unified School District #1.* Alma Sánchez continued to run Mesa High School until her death in 1984.*Jesse Dodge became headmaster upon Alma Sánchez's death; he served until 1993 when he succeeded his mother as headmaster emeritus*Harry Dodge continued to be headmaster emeritus until 2003*Samuel Sanchez Jr., also known as Sammy Sr., took over control after their father’s death in 2006(*). He remained Headmaster Emeritus until 2011 when he retired effective December 31st††
Buckeye, Arizona was founded in 1912 by John F. Buckeye and his wife, Jennie Buckeye. The Buckeyes were farmers who took up the land around the town of Buckeye after selling their farm in nearby Yuma. In 1916, they opened a general store and post office in what is now the civic center of Buckeye. In 1924, they built a schoolhouse which served as the town's first library from 1928 to 1957. The Bockeys also started a grocery store in 1941 that became one of the largest in the area. They passed away in 1958 and were buried at their farmsteads within the town limits until 1978 when their remains were moved to Tucson for interment beside other local pioneer settlers.
