Some of what makes Avondale special include its many vintage buildings that remain largely unchanged from when they were built including several churches, schools, stores, doctor's office and even a dance hall which served as a center for social events until it burned down in 1978. Additionally, much of what remains today comes from various donations given to the town during its history like trees donated after fires destroyed many homes in nearby towns or rebuilt houses that had been lost due to natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. Overall, it can be said that Avondale has some pretty unique features that make it stand out among other towns throughout Arizona; something that may come into play if it ever becomes again threatened by development or change outside of its control.
