The first law regulating firearms was passed in 1916, and it required all citizens to have a license to purchase or own a gun. The law also banned handguns from being possessed by any person under 21 years of age. In 1928, the city passed an ordinance that regulated shotguns only, and no other type of rifle or shotgun. This ordinance lasted for approximately 40 years until it was repealed in 1986. In 1992, the city passed an ordinance that prohibited conspicuous advertising of handgun sales. This ordinance lasted for approximately 10 years until it was repealed in 2006. In 2006, the city passed an ordinance that regulates rifles and shotguns only through Department of Fish and Game rules. This ordinance lasts for approximately 5 years before it is scheduled to expire on December 31st, 2020. The current regulation of firearms in Wasilla goes back to 1912 when handguns were not allowed and shotguns were restricted to individuals who had a license from the government. Wasilla, AK is a town located in the Borough ofminded on Kodiak Island in the US state of Alaska. The population was 2,045 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wasilla– Akiak–Kodiak Census Area. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Wasilla was made by Capt. John Dickson on Kodiak Island in 1795 during the Russian-American War. Captain Dickson's party had been exploringlying islands off Kodiaks Peninsula when they came across an uninhabited island, which they named "Islay." The name stuck and Wasilla became known as "Dickson's Isle" after Captain Dickson. In 1824, fur traders trading with Russia began to arrive in what is now Wasilla and started to build maize mills around 1700; these mills became important economic engines for the small community until about 1900 when industry took over and destroyed many of the early villages. By 1910, only two remaining villages remained: Nome and Islay. Today, both villages are thriving tourist destinations with their own museums, restaurants, shopping malls and beaches popular with locals and visitors alike.

The American Rifle Association (ARA) has a history of supporting the use of shooting protection equipment. In 1972, ARA sponsored a bill that would have made it illegal to shoot at targets without proper shooting protection. The bill was defeated but this didn't stop ARA from support for safe shooting practices. In 1984, ARA sponsored a bill that would have provided money to states to help them buy and provide shooting protection devices for school children. This bill also failed but it showed that there is interest in safety when it comes to shootings.
Wasilla, Alaska is located on the west coast of the United States and is bordered by Yukon to the north and east, Canada to the south and west, and Seward Peninsula to the southwest. The capital of Wasilla is Anchorage. The area was first settled by Russians in 1827. In 1901, a group of Alaskan natives led by Mr. John Dallimore established an outpost on Nowak Island in what is now Ketchikan Borough. From here they developed a trading post system with Russia that continued until 1917 when Alaska became a US territory. At this time, Russian residents in Wasilla moved out because of American military occupation and control over much of the region including land that still falls within today's Wasilla Borough limits. Despite some challenges faced during World War II both from Japanese forces as well as USAAF air raids, Wasilla remained an important agricultural center providing vegetables for local markets until the early 1960s when it began experiencing rapid population growth due to oil exploration and production in nearby Kodiak Island
On July 14, 1867, the U.S. Census Bureau in Wasilla counted 1,922 residents of the village of Wasilla and neighboring towns of Chena and Estero. The population had increased by 191 people since the last census taken in 1860.
