Tuskegee Airmen who served in World War II were honored with the Tuskegee Gunnery School Award which is now given annually to a member of the Armed Forces. The gunnery school was established in 1941 and taught students how to use handguns, shotguns, rifles and machineguns. Many of these Airmen also learned how to operate aircraft or serve as aircrew members. The Gunnery School Award has been presented annually since 1951 to a member of the Armed Forces who has participated in training at the Tuskegee Gunnery School. The award is given for “outstanding achievement in arms learning” and includes an appreciation dinner and travel expenses. One recipient of the award was Melvin Cook, Jr., who served during World War II as an bombardier aboard USS Lexington (CV-4). Cook was awarded the Gunnery School Award for his participation in training at the Tuskegee Gunnery School. After his service in the Navy, he worked as an armorer at a munitions plant before enrolling at Tuskegee University where he earned a degree in armaments engineering from 1933-1947. He then worked as an instructor at Fort Benning Army Air Field teaching fighter pilots and ground support troops until he retired from military service in 1966.

Doctor Meredith served as the first president and chief executive officer (CEO) from 1915-1928; after his death in 1928 Drs. Blackwell and George Washington Carver assumed leadership until their deaths in 1937 and 1945 respectively In 1941 Tuskegee Air Force Base opened with World War II as its main purpose - becoming home to then Headquarters USAF Fifth Air Force's Flying Training Command which specialized training for American military pilots during World War II including advanced bombing raids against Nazi Germany . However it closed its doors following the war due to budgetary restrictions . In 1948 Chief Justice Earl Warren issued "Warren v Harris" which outlawed segregated transportation within America based on race or color . This led to steady growth for black businesses throughout Alabama untilgregationists destroyed most all openaces for blacks starting with education institutions like Tuskegee Airmen Service Academy opening up white schools near Montgomery instead Today there are many youth organizations that focus on educating young people about racism / social injustice through music sales workshops+ mural painting projects

Ammunition for American rifles was scarce so Europeans startedimporting arms instead which led to fears that these new arrivals would be converted into military vehicles or used for assassinations (Feuerbach 1990). As a result of this embargo America imported shotguns and pistols only from Canada and Australia which had no ban onguns imports (Hirsch 2002). After America entered World War II they started importing automatic rifles from Switzerland but once again because of ammunition shortages they turned to Europe for assistance (Cunningham et al.) In 1945 Gun Control Act was passed making it illegal to own any weapon other than shotguns or revolvers without a permit (Gun Owners Federation 2003). This act increased police suspicion that individuals who possessed firearms were criminals rather then simply people who needed them for their personal safety(Walsh 2003)). Although prohibition passed at an earlier stage it didn’t stop criminals smuggling guns across borders which made detection easier since smugglers could easily fake permits or falsify records(Reed 2006). Furthermore, over time many regulations have been put into place prohibiting firearm possession including registration requirements, licensing requirements, Carry permits etc.(Feuerbach 1990; Cunningham et al.). Regulations enacted during the 1920s through 1940s that remain today are most notable for their impact onfirearm manufacturers such as Sturm Ruger & Co who had difficulty supplying parts necessary for manufacturing revolvers(Galloway 2009:321-322) . During prohibition period many companies stopped making handguns due to low demand coupled with stringent regulation meaning that few handgun designers/manufacturers survivedThis caused mass layoffs among pistolmakers throughout post-war America(Walsh 2003)) . After repeal of Prohibition many states began allowing concealed carry although rifle ownership remained illegal per state laws until 1968 when California legalized open carry statewide effective January 1st 1978 In recent years there has been renewed interest ingun legislation surrounding school shootings(Larson 2016a) .
