Trussville, Alabama is a town located in westernmost Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Trussville post office opened on December 3, 1871. The first settlers in what is now Trussville were farmers who arrived in 1825 from Tennessee and Georgia. In 1830 they founded the town of Marlboro on the site of present day Marlboro Township in what is now northern Jefferson County. In 1836 a group of seven men organized as the First Baptist Church in Trussville and named themselves "The Pioneers." They built a log courthouse and meeting house near present day Marlboro Township square and worshipped there until 1840 when they moved to a more permanent location about one mile east of present dayTrussville on Red Bank Road. Here they started a small grocery store and erected their first frame chapel which still stands today. The church was later enlarged to include a upperstory for worship, classrooms, an .mansion for pastor and other members of the church family, and two current buildings: One originally constructed as an armory during World War I; and another renovated in 1985-1988 with typical early 20th century architecture including four bay doors (the original three being replaced by side walls after fire destroyed much of downtown Birmingham).. This building also served as headquarters for several civic organizations before it was sold to TrussVILLE Industries Incorporated in 1984 following its merger with CementLink Incorporated In 1932 Dr J L Coleman became pastor of First Baptist Church #1 after serving as assistant pastor at Southside Presbyterian Church since 1910 until that denomination's merger into Trinity Episcopal Church six years earlier which left Trussville without any formal religious services save for services offered by hired ministers denominational meetings held outdoors or at churches rented from member congregations over time primarily within city limits Pastor Coleman organized his congregation into two separate churches reorganized both churches name change effective November 1st 1933 becoming "First United Methodist" & "Second United Methodist" Churches remaining active until 1990s when all three merged back into Trinity Episcopal Parish
