Trussville is a small town in Trussville County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Trussville County. The name "Trussville" comes from theoak tree which grows near the town's core. The first settler in what is now Trussville was James Cushing, who arrived in 1819. He named his farm after his father-in-law, Moses Tate. In 1834, Drury and others platted what would become Trussville on land that had been granted to them by President Andrew Johnson. They called it "Moses' Landing." A post office called Moses Landing was established in 1835, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903. In 1865, John Denny established himself as a physician at what is now known as Denny's Mill on the edge of town; he renamed it "Denny's Hospital." By 1870, there were over 20 businesses operating in downtownTrussville with an average weekly payroll of $1,000+. By 1880, there were over 50 businesses and an average weekly payroll of $10+, giving rise to the nickname "The Hub City". In 1901 Trussville had a population of 553 and its first school opened; it moved to its current location on Court Street (now Business Park Drive) one year later. The city saw rapid growth during World War II with an estimated increase of 95%. After the war ended came a period of stagnation as many local businesses closed their doors or went out of business while people worked foroutsourced companies or left for greener pastures elsewhere. However, by 1990s', things had started to pick up again with new construction jobs starting to arise due to technological advancements such as advances in computers and telecommunications which made goods available faster around the world than ever before making Trusstowna major player once again within Alabama economy………………………………………..

Trussville is a small town located in the Alabama Panhandle, about 25 miles northeast of Birmingham. It was founded by General John Truss in 1811 as a trading post on the Mobile River. The town was named for him and his wife, Ann, who donated land to the town. The first store in Trussville was established in 1824. The settlement grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s due to its strategic location on the Mobile River, between two important trade routes. By 1851, Trussville had a population of 1,500 people and boasted six saloons and two stores. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell passed through Trussville on his way to Gettysburg. After learning of Union forces nearby, Ewell ordered his army to retreat across the river. However, while retreating he encountered several local farmers who informed him of Union activity at Trussville. Ewell then decided to stay and battle Union forces near Birmingham instead of continuing downriver. In 1865, after the surrender of Confederate General Jubal Early at Appomattox Court House, most ofAlabama became part of the United States following Reconstruction efforts led by President Abraham Lincoln. In 1865, General John Custer's cavalry unit discovered what may have beentrunk lines from Indian Reservations near present day Decatur County when they were traveling through rural areas near Mobile Bayou south of Montgomery
Trussville was founded in 1871 by General Samuel Truss and his brother-in-law, Colonel James H. Hill. The town grew rapidly and by 1887 had a population of 5,000 people. By the early 20th century, the town had become a major center for cotton production and shipping. In 1940, Trussville was renamed Birmingham after then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt to honor him.
