In 1911, citizens of Troy voted to create a city council that would have authority over firearms and ammunition sales within the city limits. The vote was successful and as a result, townspeople began buying handguns from various manufacturers within the city limits. By 1925, handguns had become an important part of local police arsenals and departments throughout town. Throughout much of the 20th century, handguns were used sparingly as primary weapons for law enforcement officers because their use was restricted by government regulations governing ammunition availability and range usage within certain areas of town. However, with advancements in technology and manufacturing techniques during this time period, handgun ownership has slowly become more widespread within society as a whole- even being accepted by some individuals who previously considered them taboo instruments of crime control

Troy, Alabama is a city in Muskegon County, Michigan. The population was 20,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Bay City, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Troy was Frenchman Antoine de La Salle in 1701. He called it "Plain de la Motte." The local Potawatomi were the first permanent residents and founded a village on the site in 1836. They named their village after General Anthony Wayne's great-uncle, Lieutenant Colonel David Wilkinson (1746–1812). When Detroit became a town in 1837, the Potawatomi decided to move out of their landowning society and into what is now Detroit Heights. In 1853 they built their first school on West Main Street. In 1865 an act of Congress renamed Muskegon County after General James Harned (1757–1829), who had fought with General George Washington during the American Revolution and later served as Secretary of War under President James K. Polk (1844–1912). In 1871 Troy was incorporated as a city and by 1893 it had reached its present population size of 20,814 people living within its limits only
