Selma, Alabama was founded in 1881 as a town of 5,000 people. By the early 1960s, it had become a city of over 100,000 people and was one of the most segregated places in America. The Selma to Montgomery bus boycott began on April 1, 1965, and lasted for three months. During this time, transportation between Selma and Montgomery was by bus. On December 11th, 1965, eight African American students were arrested when they boarded a bus from Selma to Montgomery. This event is known as the “March on Montgomery”. After three weeks of peaceful protests and civil disobedience by black citizens and students throughout Alabama,[1] Governor George Wallace declared martial law on January 3rd, 1966. He ordered the National Guard to shoot at any protesters who did not disperse within twenty-four hours. After spending four days inside his own home with his family[2], Birmingham Mayor Robert Hughes crossed the state line into Selma on January 9th to join the protesters outside Greenwood High School where he was shot dead by order of Wallace.[3] On December 15th 1968,[4] eighteen-year old Medgar Evers was assassinated in Jackson County after walking to lunch with friends across the street from his father’s grocery store. On February 4th 1969,[5] an unarmed black man named Vernon Jordan died after being shot by white officers during an arrest near Memphis (Tennessee). This case is considered one ofliest examples of police brutality against blacks in America. Aftermath: In Selma alone more than fifty years later there are still many stories about how race played a role in what happened that day or since then in our community; things like property damage done due to looting or vandalism done because communities felt unsafe again following these events; social media posts about how “the South is all bad now becauseof us”[6]; etcetera etcetera…. It would be naïve not to try and understand why some people might feel that way given everything that has transpired since those fateful days back in November 1965 when eight young African Americans were arrested while trying to travel fromSelmatoMontgomeryon behalfof their community? There are many reasons why we may find it hardest today so simply understanding something like history may not be enough….. There are a variety of hard gun cases on the market today. From small, lightweight cases that can easily be carried around to heavier and more robust cases, there is a case for every shooter. Each hardgun owner should decide what is the best option for their needs and ensure that their case meets or exceeds those requirements. The first thing to consider when choosing a hard gun case is its weight. Many cases are designed to be light enough to be carried around, but heaviest ones can create an inconvenience when trying to fit everything inside. There are also specific dimensions necessary for each type of handgun: grip size, trigger pull distance, magazine capacity, and barrel length. Beyond weight and dimensions, another important factor in choosing a hard gun case is protection against damage. In most cases, hard gun cases come with some level of protection against scratches and dings from the accompanying firearm. Additionally, many Cases provide extra protection against sharp objects such as knives or scissors that may accidentally get stuck inside the firearm itself. Selma, Alabama is an unincorporated community in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 973 at the 2010 census. It was named for Selma A. Cobb, a white woman who founded the town in 1892. The first post office was opened in 1896, and the first store was built in 1899. The name "Selma" originated from a shoemaker's shop on Harper Street in Montgomery which had both "S" and "L" letters appended to its name to differentiate it from other stores with similar names around town.

Selma was a town in the lower Alabama region of the United States, and is now part of Montgomery. It was founded in 1836 by white settlers as Selma Settlement and named for General Andrew Jackson's wife, Angelina.* The first store in Selma was established by John White* on October 25, 1836. A post office was established at Selma on December 10, 1836. The town grew rapidly from its incorporation until the early 1850s when it had a population of about hundred people. By 1860 only thirty-six people lived in Selma; it had no school or clinic but relied instead on donations from local farmers. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell decided to attack Union forces at Selma and ordered all men under his command to cross the river into Union territory. Many black residents of Selmana chose not to follow this order and were marched into Union territory without any warning or opportunity for defense. As a result of this atrocity, many African Americans in Alabama lost their homes and livelihoods and were forced into labor on plantations or farms during the war.* After the war ended, many black former Confederates who had served in high-ranking positions within the Confederacy returned home toAlabama. They began substantial reconstruction efforts which included restoring public services such as education and healthcare that had been destroyed during the war.* However, these efforts faced significant resistance from white supremacists who saw Reconstruction as an affront to their way of life*. Some notable figures associated with Reconstruction include Booker T Washington*, Al Smith*, Huey P Newton* (founder of Black America Foundation)* and W C Marshall*. In 1965 Selma became one of six cities located within Alabama’s new state government after being excluded from Section 3 of The Voting Rights Act Amendments† due to its racist past * See also: "Selma's Story"
