Saraland, Alabama is a small town in the rural area of Clarke County, Alabama. The first shooting earmuffs were made here in 1912. Saraland was named after General Edmund Kirby Smith and his family. General Smith was a famous Confederate general who fought against the Union forces during the American Civil War. AfterWARDS, General Smith's granddaughter, Mrs. C.L. Price founded a school in Saraland which taught children how to shoot firearms and protect themselves from harm while living in an agricultural community located outside of Birmingham, Alabama

Saraland is a small town in Alabama, United States. The population was estimated to be 3,500 in 2010. Saraland is located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northeast of Birmingham and 25 miles (40 kilometers) northwest of Tuscaloosa. It lies within the Cullman County limits. The community was founded in 1889 by General John Sutherlin, who purchased land from the Creek Nation for $2 per acre. Saraland has a Baptist Church and a post office that opened in 1893. The original name for the community was "Pine village." The name change came about because of competitions between various towns in Alabama over which name would be given to the first new town founded after Reconstruction ended in 1871. In 1907, Saraland became part of Birmingham when it was annexed by the city as part of what were then known as its " Multiple Districts." In 1924, Birmingham merged with Moseley County to become Pratt County and Saraland lost its status as an independent municipality; it remained an unincorporated community until 1957 when it became one of the communities within Hartranft Township, now Huntsville City Schools District #1. The Community Center building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 6, 1984. The structure is also called Old Pine Village Hall and contains several period features such as hand-carved wood posts and stone steps leading up to its porch/entryway. A plaque on the front door reads: "Built 1886 by Jno Sutherlin - First Post Office In Town".

This design became popularized under American National name in 1917 when they merged with American Engineering Company which produced EARMUFFS FOR THE MILITARY until 1959 when headphones replaced them as the definitive type of head-mounted audio device! 1

Saraland, Alabama is a town in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mobile metropolitan area. The first settler in Saraland was James Hogg. He and his family arrived there in 1818 from Tennessee and started a log cabin. The village was named for Saraland Creek which flows through the town. The first post office was established in 1826 and the name changed to Saraland in 1868 when it became part ofEscambia County. The town's growth came about due to its location on the Gulf Coast between Pensacola and Mobile Bay as well as its access to timber and water resources. By 1900, Saraland had become an important commercial center with several stores, small businesses, churches and schools located along main streets. A large cotton gin was built near what is now Fourth Street in 1903 by Jno Copley after being purchased by local farmer John Beasley Jr.. In 1911, Saraland also saw the construction of its first school; this one served until 1954 when it moved to nearbyMobile High School. In 1935–36, during World War II, Saraland played host to both naval air station (NAS) Key West and Army Air Force Station Montgomery while both facilities operated simultaneously as a Combined Service Training Center (CSTC). At NAS Key West those activities led to increased tourism around the airport which has continued ever since onlyalbeit at a much smaller scale given that NAS Key West no longer exists today as a military installation: it has been replaced by Naval Air Station Point Mugu north of San Pedro Harbor on Clearwater Beach., With all these changes over time however some aspects remain largely unchanged such as downtown's red brick buildings dating back to 1931-1932 or Mr./ Mrs./ Miss Honeycutt’s grocery store which opened on Main Street in 1951 still serving local residents today with items like fresh fruit baskets and ice cream daily!

The railroad served as an important transportation artery in the area and allowed for a limited amount of trade to occur between Saraland and surrounding communities. Additionally, the railroad provided a means for people to connect with each other and experience rural life. The Saraland Railroad closed in 1965, but its legacy continue to be felt today. The community has since been renamed after the railroad and is now home to a number of businesses and services related to railroading and tourism.
