Prichard, Alabama is a small town in the corner of Jefferson and Lauderdale counties in central Alabama. The population was 1,970 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first holsters were created for pistols by Fayetteville Armory's John Moses Browning in 1885. holster company founder J.B. Hennessey started manufacturing holsters in Prichard in 1899. When World War I began, Holster Manufacturing Company offered to make uniforms for military service with its holsters made from leather or plastic materials instead of traditional cloth or cotton contracts that would have required soldiers to produce contraband items such as alcohol and cigarettes while on duty. In 1947, Prichard-based Chiappa Firearms Manufacturing Company became one of the first companies to manufacture assault rifles outside of America, and began producing Glock handguns there as well (later moving production to Arizona). In 1984, Chiappa merged with Bob Smith & Wesson Inc., which led to Smith&Wessonahofters being one of the few American manufacturers still making revolvers except .357 Magnum calibers today (alongside Single Action Army). In 2006, Prichard-based Midway Arms Corporation announced it would close its doors due to financial difficulties; however, it reopened two years later under new management with plans to revive manufacturing within the community once again. Midway Arms continued selling guns until 2009 when all operations ended because of economic reasons unrelated to Holster Manufacturing Co.; however, Midway Arms had ceased production on firearms by then and never resumed operations without prior notice so it was not considered a "company" within theHolster Manufacturing Co./JB Hennessey/Midway Arms Corp./Fayetteville Armory tradition going back 100 years or more."

Prichard is a small town in Alabama, United States. The population was 1,306 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville-Decatur metropolitan area. The town was founded by John Prichard in 1821. It became an incorporated village in 1901. Its post office closed in 1928 and its ZIP code was 73012. The current mayor is Vonnie Maynard. John Prichard had a sawmill and gristmill that operated until 1902 when he built a flour mill on his land which continued to be run until 1958. In 1898, Prichard married Anna Bigham and they started a grocery store and restaurant that still operates today under the name "Anna's Place". In 1908, the first school opened in Prichard with classes starting on September 8th. A second school followed in 1912 which served students from Preacherstown as well as students from nearby Decatur. In 1924, the first Baptist church opened with Reverend Waddell officiating at services on Saturday mornings while Mrs. Prichard took care of worshiping during Sunday morning services In 1938, Drury School also opened providing pre-kindergarten through eighth grade education for children living within one mile of the school line which increased to two miles after World War II ended when many African American families moved into rural areas . In 1951, First Baptist Church merged with another Baptist church to form First Methodist Episcopal Church who continue to serve as their pastor today . By 1960, there were only three churches serving those currently residing within Prichard limits (First Methodist Episcopal Church & Second Baptist Churches) however by 1990 there were six churches serving approximately 20% of all residents within Huntsville/Decatur Combined Statistical Area having over 350 members combined serving congregations located throughout both cities! The recent growth of this denomination can be seen best evidenced by their new building project located just east of town off Highway 6 near I-565 known as "The Summit" which will house up to 100+ acres including multiple buildings including classrooms/recreation units/office space for ministers/pastors etc., an arena capable of seating up to 500 people plus additional lands for future development! Over time smaller denominations have also constructed chapels or homes within walking distance such as Jehovah's Witnesses whose religious center resides right next door to First Methodist Episcopal Church; Samaritans who operate a surgical clinic adjacent to their original home place; Nazarene Chapel established about five miles north across I-565 from downtown Huntsville; Iglesia de Dios Cristo de la Purísima Concepción located about 15 minutes northeast from town on US 69 opposite Opelika AFB; these are but some examples along with scores more dotting the landscape periphery everyday making it likely that no single entity knows all about what exactly makes "PrichARD" so special other than perhaps folks hereabouts themselves!
