In 1872, Jno Pritchard donated land for a Presbyterian church which was dedicated in 1875. In 1896, Sir Walter Scott wrote "Rob Roy" while living in nearby Etowah County and spent some time at the home of Drury Lane Inn on Park Street nearpresent dayPrichard Elementary School before returning to Scotland later that year It isn't clear when or how much alcohol was consumed during this period but it likely did not go unnoticed by local residents as there are references to bootlegged whiskey being sold throughout these years In 1901 John Aitchison opened up what would become known as Aitchison's grocery store on Main Street which became one of the most popular businesses in Prichard until it closed its doors in 1969 A new shopping center called The Commons opened up near present dayPrichard High School circa 2000 which has since been replaced by another shopping mall called Midtowne Place Mall . After many years of decline over multiple closures/demands for change from developers etc.,Prichards last grocery store closed down within months of opening its doors after struggling with competition from larger stores
