Willan of the Alabama State Militia purchased ammunition from A & H Armory in Nashville, Tennessee for his rifle regiment stationed at Mobile Bayou near Montgomery. This business provided ammunition to many local residents and soldiers during the American Civil War (1861- 1865). In 1886, Wm Coker and Sons established an armory that produced both centerfire and reloadable ammunition for handguns and shotguns. This business continued until 1925 when it closed because of World War I hardware shortages caused by international trade disruptions. During World War II (1939- 1945), ammunition production at Coker’s armory increased due to war needs such as munitions for Aircraft production and naval gunnery duties ashore onAlabama Gulf Coast ports including Mobile Bayou where Shipbuilding operations took place on several occasions ThePrichard Gunsmith shop continues today as one of only a few remaining manufacturing facilities of its type still extant throughout America engaged full time In Arms Manufacturing products

The community was founded in 1881 by John Prichard and his wife, Sarah. The Prichards were pioneers in early agriculture in this area and also developed a water system for the town. The first school was built in 1882 and the town had its first post office in 1886. In 1916, the Prichards donated land to create Evergreen Park Cemetery which still contains tombstones from that time. The history of Prichard can be traced back to when it was established as a village on March 3, 1881 by John Prichard and Sarah riding horses along State Road 12 south from Prattville. John's father had immigrated to Alabama from Ireland some years earlier and John's mother was born there. The original settlers were consisted of Mr., Mrs., Children of Elisha & Hannah Peacock who arrived November 25th 1879 with their wagon train consisting of 20 male slaves (18 children + 8 adults) coming from Mobile County Tennessee, bound for Huntsville, Alabama looking for work on an estate run by General David Holmesqvist (the future Governor of Alabama). They were given two days notice before departure not to come back so no one knew what happened to them! The next day after breakfast they started cooking over an open fire using whatever materials they could find until dark as no stores or houses existed then or even now within walking distance of any settlement other than huddled around fires all winter long! After dinner they all went into different directions searching for transportation home due there being only four stage coaches available at that time! One night while everyone was sleeping outside three stage coach brakes came down hard just east of where we are now causing all sorts of damage including tearing off several feet off one endwall exposing brick underneath which later served as foundation for our current house! This event marked the beginning of what would eventually become known as "Prichard" with each successive familybringing more acreage into cultivation until finally reaching their present size today! In 1916-17 Maud Jorgensen donation brought new life to both Evergreen Park Cemetery & Main Street which runs through our Community today

Today, there are over 100 businesses in attendance with nearly 2 million square feet of floor space distributed across 5 buildings on 3 acres of land which is home to a variety of restaurants and stores including Sears Holdings Roebuck & Co., Macy’s Inc., Lowe’s Companies Inc., Regions Bank Group Inc., PNC Financial Services Group plc., BJ’s Wholesale Club LLC., FedEx Ground Corp., Waffle House LLC., Chick-fil-A restaurants USA Inc.), US Airways Corporation - formerly AA - headquartered at one time or another at every major intersection within walking distance of town center; Woodward Avenue also contains numerous large box office displays used by movie exhibitors throughout Gulf Coast states when they come into Birmingham or Mobile County; Pride Christian Academy (now Parkview School) is a private school located adjacent to town center; 4 churches(Methodist: First Baptist Church(1892)), United Methodist: Zion Chapel (1892), Evangelical Lutheran: Second Presbyterian Church (1893), Assemblies Of God: First Baptist Church (1902)), Brown Chapel (); African Methodist Episcopal: Holy Cross Parish/Church #1 (1996)). "Prickettstown" is an alternate name for Prichard given it was believed that this name originated with Mrudoff's Shopkeepers Association which bought all property east of Main Street between Walnut Street and Warrior Boulevard after purchasing land west side from James Mudd Sr./Mrsn Elda Mudd on Feb 15 1912 thru Oct 9 1912."
