Airguns have been around for more than fifty years and their history in Prichard, Alabama can be traced back to the early 1920s. In that time, there were only a few airgun shops in the town and they were all small and not very efficient. However, as airguns became more popular and accessible, so did the number of shops. By the late 1940s, there were several large airgun stores in town and they were much more efficient. Airguns became an important part of Prichard's social life and culture, especially during prohibition times when drinking was illegal. The first airguns shop in town was The Pistolero Arms store on Main Street. It was open from 1922 to 1926. The Pistolero Arms store was operated by Augustus Prentice who had been born in 1892 inPrichard and died in 1984. He was a businessman who owned a variety of businesses including a insurance company and a grocery store. Augustus Prentice is also buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Prichard. The second largest Airgun Shop in town was Secondhand Gun Emporium/Gun Store on West Jefferson Street which opened its doors on December 17th, 1951. This shop operated by Harry Browning who had also been born in 1896 inPrichard and died on October 2nd, 1998. Harry Browning is also buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Prichard. Secondhand Gun Emporium/Gun Store claimed to be the first gun shop to sell airguns online! They sold primarily Crosman model 10 rifles but also selling shotguns, pistols, ammunition, books about guns (including NRA manuals), BB guns (which he called "bunny Guns"), replica handguns (ejectors) etcetera! They even had an indoor shooting range! It is interesting to note that according to some sources Harry Browning may have actually invented the modern air rifle! He developed what would become known as the Browning B-B shotgun which consisted of a metal frame with an electronic trigger system that fired pellets without any human interaction whatsoever!

The widespread use of them during this time led to their development into what is now known as an assault rifle. The modern day airgun has evolved considerably over the years. He is also known for his contributions to farming and education in Alabama. George Washington Prichard was born into a poor family in 1784 in the small town of Prichard, Alabama. After working odd jobs to make ends meet, he ultimately became a successful lawyer and politician. In 1800, George Washington became president of the United States after defeating James K. Polk in an election that saw strong support from farmers across America. During his time as president, Washington made significant contributions to farming and education in America. He helped promote increased agricultural production by creating new regulations and improving irrigation systems across America. After leaving office as president, George Washington spent many years developing his own farm near Huntsville, Alabama. This area would later become one of the most important parts of his life – he used it as a place where he could relax and spend time with his wife Martha (née Lewis) and young son John Quincy Adams Jr.. The farm continued to be important to him until his death at age 93 on April 14, 1865.
The Prichard community developed quickly after the opening of the Chilton Railroad in 1854. The town was named for General Robert Prichard, a military officer who had played an important role in the development of Alabama. There were only a few residents when the railroad arrived, but within five years, there were over 100 people living in Prichard. The town experienced rapid growth and growth continuing until World War II. In 1907, the Chilton Railway was taken over by the Mobile Southern Railway and its line extended to Prichard. In 1916, a new substation was built at present-day Parkview shopping center which increased production for MobileSouthern Railroad products in the area. During World War II, many locals joined work on shipyards along Mobile Bay as part ofthe war effort. After the war ended, many residents decided to remain in Prichard and continue their economic activities postwar.
