Addams named the community after his daughter's childhood home in England, Pleasant Grove House (now called Pleasant Grove Baptist Church). The first post office opened in 1876 and continued to serve until 1959. In 1900, Pleasant Grove had a schoolhouse and two churches; both were destroyed by fire in 1930. In 1951, a new school building was erected and became operational as Baldwin-Wallace High Schoolsequent to which the name of the high school changed to its current moniker due to sponsorship by Gulf Breeze University which then relocated to Mobile, Alabama in 1957. In 2006, Baldwin-Wallace High School closed effective June 30th due to budget cuts within the local government however Alumni Association members are working hard to keep up with technology so that future students may still attend classes at this institution as well as occasional open house events during summer months when necessary maintenance is taking place on campus facilities such as athletics fields etc... A pavilion has been built for use by visiting dignitaries or other official visitors when coming through town for business or pleasure purposes only currently used for storage during off season months however plans call for erecting an even larger facility suitable for all types of events/ Picnics etc... As one would expect from any smalltown situated along major highways some things have stayed relatively unchanged since 1950 including groceries available 24/7 from several large convenience stores dotting Main Street including Tim Horton's also known locally as "The T" and also Dunkin' Donuts being about 2 miles away with multiple branches throughout the village center plus several smaller ones scattered around appearancewise most notably 7 Motel next door on NE corner of Main Street & US Highway 278 serving primarily truckers looking for motel deals rather than bed & breakfast type accommodations originally built just south of original main street crossing now busy First Avenue running east-west across main street forming what once was a north-south axis but recent construction has removed most of old crosswalk making it almost an alleyway today connecting downtown with SE side of village limits near Presbyterian church See map attached specifically showing location & number of stores mentioned above... This paper will focus mainly upon aspects unique to AFB GIs who lived here during World War II especially those who served aboard USS "Arkansas" (BB-33) engaged off Okinawa resulting in many memories that can never be forgot or forgotten quickly like shaking hands With Admiral Chester Nimitz after landing our ship right outside Honkaku Bay even though I wasn't born until 1961!

Ross, who fought in the Mexican-American War and won the Medal of Honor. Pleasant Grove was founded in 1881 by Colonel George W. Brown and his wife, Lucilla Sennett Brown. It had a population of just over 100 people when it began to grow rapidly after being moved from its original location on a bend in the Alabama River. By 1899, Pleasant Grove had reached its current size with an population of 2,000 people. The first store in Pleasant Grove was built on Elm Street by Captain John J. Chilton in 1881. In 1886, Mayor Julius Covington opened the first post office at Pleasant Grove with mail service coming through Mobile Bayou between Centreville and Gadsden County Courthouse until 1888 when it was moved to nearby Florenceville and renamed Post Office Park after Mrs. Covington’s husband, State Senator Lotter King Preston III.). After Mr. Preston’s death in 1893, the post office continued to be located at Post Office Park until 1907 when it moved again to its present location on Third Street near Cross Roads Shopping Center (now known as Midtown Crossing). In 1912, the name change back to Pleasant Grove when Woodrow Wilson became President of America and changed all Ulysses S Grant Presidential Campsites from “Camp Jackson” (near Chattanooga) – now called Liberty Hall – into “Pleasant Grove” campgrounds near Huntsville for military purposes only; no longer used for civilians or tourists! The last military use of Camp Jackson ended on October 15th 1975!! In 1925–1927 two schools were established within Pleasant Grove: Junior High School (founded 1925) andSenior High School (founded 1927). Both schools were closed by 1931 due to lack enrollment but reopened shortly thereafter under new names:HSV Senior High School (opened 1931), later becoming PHS Union High School before finally closing in 1984 because OFA discontinued funding for that purpose following World War II; then Central Middle School which opened 1955 before changing its name again to HSV Central Middle School during the late 1990s Before being replaced by United Methodist Church Pavilion Elementary School which currently stands as a historical landmark adjacent to HSV Central Middle School today After World War II many businesses closed down due mostly to technological advancements such as television set production moving from factories outsideAlabama towards states like Texas where cheap labor could be found however some establishment such as Jack Daniels still remained open until around 1991 when they too ceased operations because they did not meet new environmental regulations set forth during this time period especially regarding water usage per se However black owned businesses continued operating successfully albeit smaller than their white counterparts throughout most of this time period also during these years local newspapers such as The Birmingham News still operated although sometimes at reduced levels due mainly To economic reasons Although several churches closed down starting around 1960 primarily because consolidation among religious organizations effectively killed off many small business owners throughout much of central Alabama Many residents chose insteadto relocate away from central Alabama towards more developed areas including Auburn Hills & Hoover Dam But even though rural life slowly transitioned away from agriculture towards suburban living preferences slowly emerged onceagain thanks largely to advances made within city limits generally characterized as more liberal values although some continuing traditional practices remain locals have maintained strong cultural ties both inside town limits through various festivals & events often featuring their hometown heroes (& villains) along with numerous antique & vintage shops along 3rd Street downtown However despite most recent efforts by government entities & developers alikeTo revive rural life noticeable progress has been made nonetheless so much so that census figures show that while village sizes have oscillated slightly over time there has actually decreased overall since 2000 Nevertheless even though little progress has been made Overall I believe that despite current trends things will eventually revert back toward what we once knew & experienced Here is my overview/ analysisof PleasantGrove's history... pleasantly grove@aol com
