Pleasant Grove is a small town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Pleasant Grove were Abram and Anna Beavers, who arrived in December 1827. They built their house on Mount Pleasant Creek near present-day Pleasant Grove High School. This location became known as "Beaver's Hill." The Beavers had five children: three boys and two girls. Abram disappeared during the American Civil War and was never found; his wife Anna remarried and continued to live there until her death in 1902. In 1853, John Neely moved from Decatur to Marshall County with his family, including his daughter Sarah Jane Neely (1820–1899). He purchased a farm on the north side of Mount Pleasant Creek about four miles west of present-day Pleasant Grove. In 1854 he married Sarah Jane's sister Emma (1825–1904). They settled there for many years before moving to what is now Goodyear City in 1901 where they resided until Sarah Jane's death six years later. Emma died young without issue and John Neely took over her estate, which he eventually sold to make way for development around Goodyear City Hall that began occurring in 1922 when it was dedicated as the first courthouse in Huntsville/Decatur metropolitan area! John Neely Jr., one of the original settlers of Pleasant Grove, became mayor of Goodyear City after its incorporation into city limits on January 1, 1907 following approval by then-Mayor James Witherspoon III.. His father also served as mayor from 1889 until 1893 under then-Governor George Wallace II.. A few years later on November 9, 1912 Mayor Neely was fatally shot while leaving an election event at Municipal Auditorium; however long term replacement Willie Horton won that race handily! From 1913 through 1918 goodyear city government operated out of State Capital Building located just east of downtown Goodyear City – this building served as both municipal hall and jail during these times! After James Witherspoon III passed away on May 10th1920 assistant county attorney Willis Jarrell took over mayoral duties but resigned due to health concerns a few months later suddenly little changed occurin goodyear city government until 1933 when new headcounty attorney Forrest Hargrave took office .. Finally effective July 1st 1934 old headcounty attorney Willis Jarrell retired effective immediately due more than 30 years service total .. Many changes occurred during this time such as annexation by Decatur County followed by designation as a municipality within newly created Huntsville/Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area This paper will focus mainly upon events occuring between 1800s & 1930s except for certain important dates mentioned earlier which are covered under other topics or articles elsewhere throughout history concerning those subjects

Pleasant Grove grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1827, Pleasant Grove School was built and became one of the first public schools in Alabama. The school served as a model for many other schools in Alabama. In 1870, a post office was opened in Pleasant Grove and the town quickly developed into an important center for mail delivery and commerce. By 1920, Pleasant Grove had reached its peak as a small community with around 500 residents. However, during World War II, Plumstead Air Force Base destroyed much of what remained of the town, finalizing its demise as an important local community.
