In 1957, the name of the community was changed to "Pleasant Grove". Today, Pleasant Grove remains a small farming community with significant commerce conducted through its two businesses: United Dairymen of America and Smith Bros.' Hardware Store. There are also several churches and other public institutions that contribute to its social fabric. Most notably, there are several plantations dating back to when Mobile County was part of Spanish America; these plantations continue to be visited by tourists today because they offer stunning views of Mobile Bay from their grounds.

Pleasant Grove is one of two towns in Montgomery County, Alabama, with a population over 10,000. It is also one of only a few communities in Montgomery County that has a post office and telephone service. The first inhabitants of this area were the Creek people who settled along the Muskingum River in what is now Gainesville Township. In 1819, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through this area on their way to retake Mobile from the British. A group of settlers led by Samuel Lane built a cabin known as "Lane's Cabin" on West Main Street near present-day Memorial Stadium in 1830. This community was named for Samuel Latham Lane who owned land adjacent to it and donated the land for the village site. In 1835, Pleasant Grove became part of Montgomery County when it was organized from portions of adjoining Jefferson and Shelby Counties. At that time, there were just six residents living in Pleasant Grove: four men and two women (the three girls lived with their mothers). The first store opened in 1840 and soon began to provide needed goods and services to its surrounding community including farming, lumbering and transportation needs; however, due to increasing travel distances within Montgomery County or because railroads arrived later on (the first railway line ran through Birmingham), store hours varied greatly throughout the years. One important event which occurred during this early period was when John Crain founded an agricultural society known as "The Craine Agricultural Society". This society provided seed money for farmers across Montgomery County so they could plant crops and make profits which then helped support local families until World War II when agriculture declined nationally as mechanization took hold; however, some farms still operate today thanks to donations from individuals or groups interested in supporting traditional farming practices In 1851 Mayor James Witherspoon formed a committee to study ways to improve public streetside drainage systems around town - one result was construction of what became known as "Witherspoon Avenue". This roadway connecting Park Row Cemetery with downtown started out as an alley leading from Second Street up Park Row where prostitution took place; however it gradually became wide open after complaints arose about unsafe conditions along Third Street between Lexington Avenue/Alley Pond Drive and North Boulevard where many businesses once stood One significant event that happened during this time was when Pleasant Grove School District No 2 merged into Montgomery Public Schools District No 1 circa 1951-1953 . However due to some discord within PHSD #2 over governance issues such as curriculum changes or grade level assignments etc., school district boundaries have blurred somewhat over time . On October 14th 1957 fire destroyed most of section 3 JB Hargrave Elementary School & all buildings except for auditorium which burned down & new school building erected on lot next door called Hargrave Middle School
The Pleasant Grove community was founded in 1825. It was named for Pleasant Grove Creek, which flows through the community. The first settlers were farmers and their families. By 1830, the community had a school and a Baptist church. In 1835, the town was renamed Hope after General John Hope, who led an expedition to explore Alabama in that year.
