Pleasant Grove is a small town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It was founded in 1871 by theettlement of families from Mobile and Baldwin counties. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. The first ammunition plant in Pleasant Grove was built in 1875 by J.C. Henniker and Company. Ammunition production continued to increase through the 20th century; by 1951, it employed over 100 people. In 1971, Ammo Plant No. 2 was built and increased production to 2 million rounds per day—making it one of the largest ammunition plants in the world at that time. The plant closed its doors in 1984 due to economic decline but has been reborn as a museum with exhibits on ammo history and manufacturing processes gone back to 1875.

The first ammunition being manufactured in Pleasant Grove was black powder. The town started making rifles and pistols in 1853, and soon began exporting these products to other states. In 1865, the first shotguns were created in the town, and by 1870 ammunition production had increased greatly. Ammunition manufacture continued until the early 1930s when it stopped completely due to World War II.
Pleasant Grove is a small town in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1881 by Elisha and Anna Pleasant. Anna Pleasant donated the land for the town square and also gave away 100 acres of her land to help start a school district there. The first school in Pleasant Grove was built on what is now Main Street. In 1886, Anna Pleasant's son George put up a large white picket fence around his home to keep cattle from grazing on his property. That same year, John Hodge opened the first grocery store in Auburn and started selling groceries to residents of Pleasant Grove. In 1897, Milton Ayer bought out George Palmer's share in the grocery store and became sole proprietor of Ayer's Grocery Store. John Hodge died in 1904 and his widow Mercy sold the store to James Gorman in 1906. Gorman renamed it "Ayers Grocery" after himself and continued to sell groceries until he closed it down in 1933 due to financial troubles). From then on, all stores were called "Gorman's". In 1916, Mrs. Gorman gave her entire estate (including her house) to the town for use as a public library; that same year, Pleasant Grove had its own post office with mail service from Huntsville two miles away! In 1930, Herbert Hoover addressed a meeting of citizens gathered at Ayer's Grocery Store and spoke about preserving rural America through education programs like "Hooverism." As part of this speech, Mr./Mrs./Miss/Mr./Msgr./Rev.(?) distributed literature about Rural Electrification Administration (REA) which would later be named Telecommunications Administration Act (TAA). This program would provide telephone service throughout rural areas without having builder pay fees or lease lines from local providers- an unheard-of idea at that time! After giving some remarks about TAA during lunch break at Ayer's Grocery while we ate our sandwiches with mayonnaise instead of ketchup/onion/pickles etc., Hoover walked back into state government buildings acrossstate capital building across street where he talks with President Franklin D Roosevelt on National Telephone System...talked about Rural Electrification Administration which later become Telecommunications Administration Act! What an amazing day today!

Pleasant Grove is a small town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. It was founded in 1873 by General James H. Ross and his wife Anna P. Hill. The population of Pleasant Grove was 1,887 at the 2000 census. Pleasant Grove is located on the western edge of Marshall County, between Tuscaloosa and Decatur counties. According to the 2000 census, it has a total area of , of which is land and (2%) is water. Most of the town was built on high ground overlooking an agricultural region that stretched from Decatur to Tuscaloosa Counties to include parts of Baldwin County and Lowndes County. The original settlers were Methodist ministers who arrived from Tennessee in 1853 seeking religious freedom under then-President Andrew Johnson's Emancipation Proclamation. They named their new community Pleasant Grove in honor of President George Washington Carver's home at Mount Vernon near Richmond, Virginia where he had settled as a white man after being born slave in Maryland. The first post office opened in 1874 and remained open until it closed around 1936 due to local concern about mail theft by black postal workers
