The Phenix City Shooting Club was formed in 1907. The club is one of the oldest and most active shooting organizations in Alabama. It has a rich rifle history dating back to World War I when the club used Winchester Model 1892 rifles. In 1933, the club became affiliated with the NRA and began using modern rifles such as the Ruger Mini-14. There were several different designs before anyone came up with the modern Target Holder design. One of the most common designs today is the traditional “peanut butter jar” type holder. This type of holder typically has two circles that fit inside each other like a peanut butter jar lid. You place your fingers inside one circle and reach out to pick up your target; once you get your hand close enough, you push down on the other circle until it snaps shut and your target is held in place (Figure 1). The disadvantage of this design is that it's difficult to move your target around if you need to change positions quickly or make a adjustment (Figure 2). Another popular design nowadays is called a “doodlebug” style Holder (Figure 3), which consists of four small circles that fit within each other like a doodlebug (Figure 4). These holders are often used by novice shooters who just want to try out this type of holds before purchasing a more advanced model.
One of the first target holders was a metal hoop with a leather strap around it. It was used to hold up targets and shoot at them from a distance. The targets would be released by an operator and they’d fall to the ground, making it easy to hit them. Later on, other devices were created such as the modern rubber band target holder.

Today,phenix city has recovered somewhat from its downturn in recent years; although it still lags behind many other metro areas in terms of economic development, it has seen some growth in its downtown district which contains several large businesses including JCPenney and Macy's Department Stores. Additionally there are numerous small businesses dotting the area that continue to provide jobs for locals despite difficult times or simply because they offer unique products or services that haven't been found elsewhere yet. Despite these successes however there remain some challenges facing phenix city such as increasing crime rates and problems with getting goods and services into the community due to lack of infrastructure or transportation options present within it

The Confederacy was effectively destroyed andAlabama became the Union States of America. Phenix City was founded on December 3, 1864 by citizens of Mobile County as a small town on the Flint River.
