Phenix City is a city located in the U.S. state of Alabama, on the Phenix River. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. The name means "place where rivers flow." The original site of Phenix City was on the banks of the river, and early residents built houses along both its mainstem and its tributaries. Founded in 1819 by James Fenton as Fort Fenton, Phenix City became an important trading post and transportation center for wheat, corn, cattle, horses, and other goods coming downriver from Muscle Shoals and Decatur County. In 1829 it was renamed Fort Payne after General Andrew Jackson's victory over Mississippi at Horseshoe Bend that year. By 1836 Fort Payne had become a military post with a brick arsenal and numerous stores. In 1841 Confederate General Braxton Bragg decided to move his army upriver to take advantage of new trade routes opened up by the railroad between Montgomery and Stonington (now Birmingham). He ordered Colonel John Mosely to take control of Fort Payne and garrison it until he could bring reinforcements upriver. Mosely began construction on what would become one of Mobile's most famous institutions – Sumterville Arsenal – but when hostilities resumed in April 1861, he abandoned it before completion because he knew that Mobile would not be surrendered until all Confederate forces were destroyed east of Mobile Bay. After the Civil War ended, fortifications around Phenix City were abandoned or used for other purposes until 1901 when they were taken over by Alabama Power Company as part of their electric power network expansion project into central Alabama; these fortifications remain today known as Pfeiffer Army Airfield #1 (pronounced "peez-feffer"). During World War II United StatesArmy Air Forces personnel stationed at PFEIFER made significant contributions to air activity throughout Southeast Asia; many aircraft used here such as Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers came from nearby Goodyear Airport in Tuskegee National Labs near Atlanta. Today some remnants remaining from this earlier history can still be seen including two large concrete blocks dating back to 1941 which are now part 1 mile north-northwest of downtown Phenix City off State Route 29 adjacent to Goodyear AFB; these are also popular tourist attractions for local residents who enjoy exploring them for their historical value only

Over time, many new technologies have been developedthat have impact on Scope Mounts design; such as electronic sighting systems that allow shooters to track their targets without having to use traditional sightsighting devices. Phenix City is a city in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 10,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville–Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Phenix City was Capt. John Stephenson who arrived in 1819 from Tennessee and named it after his hometown of Phenix City, Virginia. A post office called Stephenson's Landing was established in 1826, and the town rapidly grew due to its strong trade with nearby Decatur and Mobile counties. In 1830, Stephenson donated land for a public school system which became known as Stephens School District #1. The town's growth continued through the 1840s when developers began constructing large plantations in what is now Marshall County. By 1850, there were over 100 homes and businesses in Phenix City – more than any other municipality within Marshall County! In 1853, General Andrew Jackson recognized Christianity as the official religion of America and ordered all military officers to swear an oath to support that faith. As a result of this order, many farmers turned their attention to farming instead of buying slaves or attending religious services outside of their homes. This change led to a decreased demand for slave labor on plantations throughout the Deep South during the mid-19th century – freedmen started working off plantation floors as early as 1865! During Reconstruction (1865-1877), much effort was made by Confederate forces to keep control of Southern society through violence and terror (the Ku Klux Klan). One such effort was Operation Crossfire which targeted African Americans living north of Atlanta –phenixcity residents were among those arrested and/or killed! This brutality against citizens must have been especially harrowing for those who lived here during one of history's most tumultuous times! Afterward, many African American families moved out of Phenix City altogether because they could not live under constant threat from white supremacists!
Phenix City, Alabama was founded on July 3, 1814 by Major James Stephens and his family. On September 16, 1816, the first courthouse in Phenix City was built. The town continued to grow and become a major center of trade and commerce until the Civil War. In 1861, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia and Phenix City became part of the Union side. The city experienced significant Reconstruction efforts which helped create new businesses and improve infrastructure. After the war ended in 1865, phenix city slowly began to decline as its population declined and small businesses closed up shop. However, due to its location within easy reach of Mobile Bay and other seaports it remained a vital commercial center for many years after the war until it eventually fell into disrepair.
