Kline Guns became popular among hunters and recreational shooters throughout Southeast Alabama until she ceased operations in 1978. Airgun manufacturing resumed in Phenix City after Kline's cessation with the introduction of the Airgun Company products from 1980 through 1984 by Edwin Waddell Jr., who also founded Waddell Custom Airguns Incorporated (WCAI) which manufactured both semiautomatic pistols and rifles under contract to various police departments throughout Southeast Alabama until 1993 when it merged with another firearms company to form American Outdoor Brands Incorporated (AOBI).
