Pell City is a town in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, United States. The population was 20,501 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tuscaloosa County and the principal city of Pell City Micropolitan Statistical Area. Pell City was founded in 1892 by Captain Alfred Pell and his family. The first post office in Pell City was established in 1893. In 1907, it became the incorporated town of Pell City. The name "Pell" originated from Alfred Pell's father, James A. Pell. The Pell familyowned land around present day PellCity until 1909 when they sold it to Jeptha Crain who platted and named the town of Pell City after himself as part of a larger transaction with other investors including banker Wm H Thomas and lawyer John Ligon Piggott Jr.. In 1913, William Ellington purchased 3/4ths interest in Jeptha's hotel which became known as "Ellington Hotel". He built two frame buildings on Main Street (now called University Avenue) which served as the courthouse and jail from 1913-1915; he also began to develop what is now downtown Pell City into an agriculturally based community with small stores, churches and restaurants serving local residentsagerations such as chicken pie dinners and square root beer ice cream socials during summertime In 1916-1917 Dr Wm H Thomas successfully sued Mellon Steel Company for trademark infringement over use of his name “steel” on heavy equipment being exported from America to Great Britain
Pell City is a small town in Alabama, United States. The population was 5,912 at the 2010 census. Pell City is part of the Mobile metropolitan area. Pell City was founded in 1881 by J.B. Pell and Wm. Folsom and named for John Bogle Mellon, an American banker and industrialist who had been born in Manchester, England. The city has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) with cold winters and hot summers due to its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. Average monthly temperatures range from 26 °F (−3 °C) in January to 86 °F (35 °C) in July;[1] however, Summer can be as warm as 92–101 °F (36–45 °C). There are no significant natural disasters or hurricanes that have struck the city since it was founded; however, some residents do experience occasional lightning strikes or tornadoes during winter months which can cause damage to homes or businesses nearby.[2]

Pell City is a small town located in north-central Alabama near the Tennessee state line. Pell City was founded in 1868 by James W. Pell and his wife, Linnie. The town was originally named for General George Biddle, who had assisted American forces during the American Civil War. At that time, Pensacola was still an important port and there were few buildings within the limits of present day Pell City due to its proximity to Spanish Fort and Mobile Bayou which made it difficult for goods to enter or leave the town
