An Adobe Walls National Monument was established at Ozark in 1959 to commemorate local farmers who contributed to the development of this Tennessee Valley Territory (TVT) land that includes present-day Alabama and Mississippi. Ozark experienced significant growth during World War II due to its strategic location within easy range of Allied military bases throughout southern Alabama and northern Georgia. During World War II, approximately 2,500 employees from various businesses located downtown worked at four munitions plants managed by JSC Paper Products Incorporated (now EMI Music). One plant produced 50 million rounds per day for ammunition use by both Allied forces and Japan during World War II; another produced planes for bombarding Japanese targets from airfields near Birmingham, Ala.; yet another manufactured rockets for AmericanAAF bombers flown into Japan’s cities; all these plants were part of JSC Paper Products’ “war production zone” which covered much of central Alabama including Ozarksville/Ozark City limits where our paper products were made available to help feed Americans war effort overseas! As post-World War II economic conditions improved throughout most parts of America, many residents chose not to move away from their homes following hostilities ended nationally on September 2nd 1945 – just two months after General MacArthur delivered an emotional speech welcoming US troops home from Asia! Many residents choose instead to stay put while their communities gradually regained some lost business or social stability – something that has continued over subsequent decades with few changes except for population size!
