Gunmakers throughout the region produced weapons for Confederate soldiers as they fought in this campaign which led to increased demand for firearms by Confederate forces. After the American Civil War ended, mountainbrook decided against seceding from the United States and remain within Alabama until it joined the Confederacy again following World War II when it reverted back to its original name - Mountainbrook Village Incorporated - because so many residents had emigrated outside ofAlabama after the war ended. The community continued its blossoming gun industry until 1968 when manufacturing rights were surrendered to Remington Arms Company pursuant to an agreement struck between both companies regarding sales quotas for each company’s product line

Mountain Brook is a small town in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,692 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Mobile–Tuscaloosa metropolitan area. Mountain Brook was founded in 1811 by Nicholas and Anna Moore. In 1821, the Moore family sold their land to James Hance and his wife Jane Brownell Hance. In 1830, Mountain Brook's first school opened with 30 students and four teachers. By 1840, the number of students had increased to 120 and the school became known as "The Academy". A new frame building was built in 1853-54 for $5,000 by John Epps Jr., one of Richard Maney's trustees on land purchased from Hance after he won an arbitration case against him over a mortgage issue. The academy moved to its current location in 1865 when a new courthouse was built on Main Street near present-day Highland Park Elementary School. Mrs. Hance donated her extensive home (now part of Mountain Brook Manor) to be used as a high school gymnasium until it closed in 1978; it currently serves as part of Highland Park Middle School's athletic facility. Mountain Brook has been served by four schools: "The Academy" (1853-1865), "Highland Park" (1935-1978), "Mtbrook Manor" (1978-present) and "Hale Middle/HS" (2009-present). In 1835, Mountain Brook became a town when it was incorporated as a village. It grew rapidly during the late 19th century because of its natural resources and proximity to Birmingham and Huntsville. By 1910, Mountain Brook had a population of over 1,000 people. The town experienced rapid growth during World War II as many residents moved to the region to work on munitions plants or in the military. However, after the war ended, local businesses began to decline and the population fell back to around 500 people by 2000.
