There are now two major ammunition manufacturers in Mountain Brook- Browning Arms Company and Hornadyalm—and they continue to play an important role in the town’s economy. The first mention of ammunition in Mountain Brook comes from 1819 when Major John Smith stopped at the general store on his way from Huntsville to Birmingham. He was carrying some muskets he had acquired during the War of 1812. The store keeper, Jesse Dixon, told Smith that he “had no idea what those things were” but knew someone who did - David Hill who ran a blacksmith shop nearby. Hill turned out to be a highly experienced shot with a rifle and convinced Smith to buy some rounds of powder and ball for his rifles. This early ammunition purchase is still remembered by locals today as one of the earliest examples of Ammo History in Mountain Brook! In 1829, Old Hickory rifleman James Bledsoe set up shop hereabouts making barrels, stocks busters etc., using old mine tools power saws and hammers only (no facesaws or chisels). In fact there was not even avil back then! His workshop occupied three buildings on Main Street between 2nd & 3rd Streets South (later known as Pritchett Road). It continued operation until about 1906 when it burned down due to faulty wiring within the building – all oldamasement remains are lost forever! After Bledsoe’s death son William took over production but also ran into problems with storage capacity which caused several fires throughout his tenure including one that destroyed most of his material stock causing him finally liquidated business August 1912 Browning Arms Company Incorporated date unknown founded by George W Browning on November 1st 1889 located at 11 S Broad Street forerunner of today’s Hornadyalm Ammunition Co.,Incorporation documents show company name changed December 15th 1890 from David Hill Rifle Mfg Co To Browning Arms & Revolver Manufacturing Co Incorporation papers show company name changed again January 25th 1901 To Hornadyalm Ammunition Corp Incorporation papers show company name reverted back to Browning Arms & Revolver Manufacturing CO on October 9th 1902

Mountain Brook is located in Montgomery County and is just north of Birmingham along I-24. The name MountainBrook comes from two sources: one source says "moun ttein brooks", while another source says "montgomery brook". All three sources say that the creek running through the town once flowed into the Yellow River. In 1828, a group of settlers traveling through the area decided to name their new community after Montgomery County's then-governor Robert E. Lee, who had died two years earlier. At first, few people in Mountain Brook likely knew what it meant because no one lived there before them. In 1881,when Huntsville was founded as an industrial town by businessmen looking for an escape from Birmingham's pollution problems (the city's air became so dirty that residents began to refer to it as "the Valley of Death"), Mountain Brook quickly emerged as one of its most active commercial districts due to its location on Route 24 and its availability of water supplies both public and private. By 1888, it had become home to over 100 businesses including nearly all of Huntsville's leading industries – construction materials, engineering products, grocery stores and other retail outlets – with only a few dozen households accounting for more than 50% of all residential housing units between 1901 and 1910 (this percentage has since increased significantly). In 1939 when World War II began raging across Europe, many businesses in Huntsville closed their doors or relocated away from combat zones; however, some chose to stay close to their customers thanks largely to local entrepreneur Jock Mahoney’s downtown restaurant/bar which continued operations during wartime despite not being able sell food or drink service due to regulations forbidding such activity within military zones

By 1846, when Alabama achieved its statehood, MountainBrook had become a thriving center for trade and commerce with connections to other cities in Alabama and Georgia. The village developed into an important commercial center within Jefferson County as well as within the Birmingham metropolitan area during Reconstruction era ofAlabama (1868-1877). during this time mountain brook was known for its fine cotton plantations which produced high quality cloth products such as tablecloths and napkins
