One group led by Samuel Atkins built a cabin on what is now Court House Road near modern day Montebello Cemetery. In 1793, Major James Macon bought some land from King George II of Great Britain for $5 per acre (2 hectares). By 1800, most of what would become Montgomery County had been purchased by settlers or donated by Scottish farmers. The first permanent American settlement in what would become Montgomery County was made when John Sevier organized a party to purchase 71 acres (3 ha) near present day Decatur Street and Whitehall Avenue for $15 per family member (4 ha). By 1802, about 25 families lived here with Sevier establishing two stores and a post office catering to them all. This early community did not have any schools because children were sent back home to their parents or grandparents to learn how to read and write before heading off into society’s mainstream . Settlement continued until 1810 when Congress passed an act providing for slavery within limits prescribed by law . In 1814 President James Kenedy called out 3 companies of Ulysses S Grant’s Army under general John Cushing for service along the Mobile River Campaign against Native Americans known as “The Creek Nation” or simply “The Creeks” because they resided east of Mobile Bay on lands claimed by France dating back to 1684 ABIG & prior settlements including those at Mound City Hill & other locations situated on navigable waterways within Spanish Florida also known as Pensacola Bayou/Alabama Gulf Coast………. Creek resettlement occurred throughout much of southeastern Tennessee into Indian Territory northeastward through Arkansas then Texas before reaching Georgia sometime between 1830-1840….. Most Creek leaders relocated eastward acrossudgee towards Tennessee & Mississippi prior to white settlement there………… Many Creek women married white men accompanying them acrossOklahoma state line into Arkansas then Texas….. After removal from their traditional homeland many Creeks migrated westward via Oklahoma state line into Missouri then Kentucky where they encountered settler populations soon followed…………………… Some resettled further north still along Mobile River……………………………………….. All native nations were forcibly removed from their ancestral lands subjecting millions more people than this nationwide process ever achieved…………

A number of events occurred during World War II which have been celebrated each year leading up to and including Veteran Day in Montgomery: In 1945, General George Custer was killed while commandeering his horse "Buffalo" south of present day Auburn Hills; this event helped spur development around Auburn Hills and has been commemorated annually with a parade through downtown Auburn Hills organized by Macomb Township Rotary Club which draws many onlookers who line up along Seminary Avenue for picturesque views before marching east on Michigan Avenue past State Capitol building into downtown again for another parade down Marshall Street ending at First National Bank Building—the original site where Buffalo stood prior to being replaced by that structure in 1951 (now home to Myriad Artspace). This event marks one end of Military Parade route near Interstate 65—just east of present day University Mall—and one beginning about two blocks west on US Highway 10 which leads all the way back out to Seminary Avenue once again for those viewing from beyond I-65’s fence!
