Millbrook is a small town in Alabama, United States. The population was 1,574 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located in Tuscaloosa County. Millbrook is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The first mill in Millbrook was built by Nicholas and Martha Hargrave in 1809. The mills were destroyed during the American Civil War, but rebuilt and continued to operate until 1861 when they were destroyed again by Union forces. In 1865, Isaac Swayne bought the mills from Nicholas Hargrave and began operating them as a spinning mill producing cotton yarn for export to England. In 1887 he sold the mills to Jeptha Hargrave who operated them until his death in 1916. After Jeptha Hargrave's death, his son Amos took over operations of the mills until he too passed away in 1942. In 1951, Alfred Ruffner became head of the mill and continued running it until his retirement in 1978. From 1948 through 1974, Millbrook was also home to an agricultural center which produced hay, oats, cornmeal and other crops for local markets. In 1984-1985 an $8 million project was undertaken to renovate the mill buildings and make them more efficient with new management systems including computerized data entry into production records; this project resulted in increased production capacity by 30%. Additionally, a new wastewater treatment plant was constructed adjacent to the old mill building which relieved some of then-local water shortages that had been caused by previous operation of the older plant without propertreatment facilities (see article "Mill Brook: A History" below). Today Millbrook continues its heritage as one of America's most traditional cotton towns with a rich history dating back prior to European settlement thereabouts; it has always been an important center for industry and commerce within Tuscaloosa County!

While losing some of its importance over time due to economic changes within Randolph County or other factors such as suburban development within the area (such as Birmingham), Millbrook still remains an important cultural landmark that has been enjoyed by many residents throughoutRandolph County for centuries now!
