This added an indoor shooting range and a number of other competition areas to make it one of the most comprehensive rifle ranges in Alabama.
Millbrook is a small town in Montgomery County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,500 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located on the south side of the Alabama River and is bordered by Gibson County to the east and west. It is part of the Huntsville–Decatur–Tarrant metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1892 by John Gentry and his family as a cotton plantation near present-day Montevallo, Alabama. In 1906, Gentry's son-in-law, James Sperry Farley, purchased land within milling district that would eventually make up Millbrook. In 1912, Farley built a two-story frame house for himself and his wife into which he added an addition for their children; these additions are still extant today. The community name originated from Farley's purchase of "mill" (a word meaning "store") Brookfield Mills; this name became associated with Millbrook because of its proximity to Brookfield Mills stream (the Millbrook Reservoir). In 1955, Millbrook formed part of Montgomery County along with Decatur and Tarrant counties when it was created as one unit via an act of the Alabama Legislature. In 1970, following countyhood change within Montgomery County resulted in increased development pressure on smaller towns such as Millbrook north of Interstate I-85 including several suburban developments located adjacent to local schools while also impacting millers' access to water supplies resulting in what has been called "the largest water theft case in history." A comprehensive solution involving buying back valuable mill rights from developers was reached but implementation stalled due to lack of funding until 2005 when then Governor Robert Bentley announced legislation providing state investment for rural water systems statewide through the Building One America Infrastructure Fund ThisFund has since helped bring about large projects such as new pipelines andascending desalination plants across centralAlabamaand has supported other projects like expanding Highway 251 from its current 4 mile width all the way to a 5 mile wide bypass around Birmingham The centerpiece project being constructed now is $975 million dollars worth of upgrades to I-65 between Mobile and Huntsville with an eventual completion date set for 2019 .
